douche. Lifelover is the weaker version of Shining in my book.

Lifelover suck as well as Weakling, I could care less for either novelty act. I still have yet to hear Shining.

Your tastes are obnoxious but if you don't like Shining it's your own loss. The other two choices are questionable but solid to a lot of people. Shining however is just great.

Shining is fucking amazing, I don't consider the two newest albums black metal though. I have V, VI and Through Years of Oppression. Through Years of Oppression is more black metal.

Shining is good. They've been putting out consistent, solid material for a long time now.

It's confusing having two good metal bands named Shining. Assuming this is not the one that put out Blackjazz?

Shining are ok but they are a little over the top with their suicidal drama.

Not the Blackjazz one and I can tolerate the drama if they keep writing those riffs. Kvarfatoth(sp?) seems the silly part of that band and he is kinda replaceable.

Yeah his act is ridiculous but riffage makes up for it.

Total Utfrysning was an incredible display of evolution.

I've to agree with Stevo here. Weakling is a good band, but nothing special; and Lifelover sucks. Shining rlz though. Chopin is a great choice for melancholy like you said early.

For me, the most depressive album is Abyssic Hate - Suicidal Emotions. Simplistic yet very effective riffs, raw production and opressive atmosphere. Still reduces me to tears after so many years.
