Don't go Zad! Our compatibility on last.fm is super!

You, Charles and Alex are the three reviewers whose black metal recommendations never fail!

Hah, that is quite a list. Especially Ihsahn's latest. I am not sure how anyone could be disappointed with that album, as it was a categorical improvement over his prior solo work....and this is coming from someone that could have done without the Sax.

I think you guys failed to see the bottom of his list, where he explained that he listed those as disappointments because he didn't get to listen to them as much as he wanted. So, he was disappointed in his lack of time with them rather than in the music. A weird way to go about composing a list of disappointments for sure, but oh well.

Both but I really only cared about pointing out Burroughs as one.

Eh. Also the Isolationist was pretty meh. No Mumuure? Martolea? Aborym? Inquisition? My goodness.

At least there are some good ones in there. Alcest, Les Discrets, Vit, Imperium Deckadenz, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Drudkh was decent.

Waitain was marginal at best IMO.

Also, maybe it's just me or it wasn't a good year, but some of the lists just seem to have filler to make them top 10's. I mean, like Fear Factory, is reaching.

I raise an eyebrow at this, in addition to Watain being 'marginal' like my bros have said.

He is right that Murmuure and Martolea were very good!

I don't really think they do anything special at all. It's been done.

As for The Isolationist I suppose I always hear so much about Krieg, and I enjoy some of their albums, but I don't really think they're as kvlt as everyone makes them out to be.

But yeah, just my opinion and all. I know I'm leaving out some other solid black metal releases, but I suppose if I would have liked them so much they would have been memorable enough to stick around.

Watain's album was good but wasn't top notch black metal. They put on a great live show though.
