I think my favorite metal release of the year is Torche--Songs for Singles. Damn, this is some catchy, heavy, eminently awesome shit...I'm really glad I decided to check these guys out.

How can you type Overkill and then type Death Angel? Did you even listen to both of those albums?

Number 1 for me is Ihsahn - After, closely followed up by Immolation - Majesty and Decay.

Honestly I'm not sure what the rest of my list would look like. Both of those albums were far and away better than everything else I remember liking last year.

At least the new Burzum, Inquisition and Clandestine Blaze. Too hard to pick other awesome stuff that was released last year.
