While metalheads differ with regards to certain subgenres, what are some of the bands/artists/projects you've heard that you believe a great deal of other individuals enjoy. For myself, I think Dead can dance have a massive metal following, as well as everything from Converge, Diamanda Galas, and Pink Floyd also having a myriad of fans.

Rock band.
They are loud, fast and dirty, but when all is said and done they are still a rock and roll band.

The straight forward phrasing, the same compositional structure found primarily in rock, the total lack of any pretention...
And according to The Man Himself, Lemmy, of course.

Yeah. Porcupine Tree, Coheed and Cambria come to mind.


Also Tenhi and such neofolk acts. In fact I don't think anyone actually listens to neofolk as a genre but something to cool your head after listening to Slayer for 5 hours.

Probably not. I don't see any euro-metal bands denying that fact when I look through their influences at their sites. Liking metal and pop at the same time was pretty common back then, much more so than in America too.

The Mars Volta and Coheed come to mind for me. Also countless classic rock bands.

Most of the metalheads I knew listened nearly exclusively to metal.

The exceptions were bizarre and included anything from Kate Bush to Kenny Rogers to Queen to J-Pop to Classical.



I generally listen to 99.99999999% metal when I put on a CD. Other than Guns N Roses, Faith No More, Uriah Heep and Soundgarden, I do not own any non-metal.

However I do like a lot of my wife's music. Her collection is eclectic - pop, ska, punk, rock, lounge, tango, classical.
