Record labels consider ripping a copy of the CD you purchased to your own personal use to be illegal and worthy of the same penalties as downloading. In fact the only legal way to use MP3's is to buy a copy for every device or hard drive you use it on. They have asked for the piracy with policy like this.

I'd love to see anyone defend that.
