I might be being pessimistic, but having a transplant booked doesn't necessary mean a match is found, surely? They might have started chemo with the hope that things will be sorted down the line. In any case, I hope I'm wrong and that all will be well.

Yes, you're right. I kind of jumped to conclusions a bit. On the other hand, I don't understand why they would already book a transplant if a match hasn't been found yet. This may be the usual procedure though, I'm not familiar with this sort of things.

I assume they have to book them in advance because of the shortage of donors/experts/facilities, and the long time chemo treatments can take. Poland's medical set-up is a mystery to me, though.

I hope he does well. Losing Nergal would be a massive blow to the metal community. We've already lost Peter Steele and Dio.
