I'm still stuck on my copy of Barbarians for this band, but they really are a good bit of black metal. By the way you describe the music on this album, it sounds slightly better than on Barbarians which would make for hearing the music better. I'll have to give this a spin if I run into it at Hastings.

This is on top of my to get list.

Good job, Zad, more people need to check these guys out.

Check out Epitaph, it's their tightest album, IMO.

I'm not all that familiar with Central European black metal. This sounds intriguing, going to have to check it out.

Indeed, world needs more bands like this one instead of all those communist acts.

Haha, it's kind of dishearteneing to see this garner so little attention... it's not as if Maniac Butcher are a new band, after all.
Fuck all that WITTR and their ilk, this is how Black Metal is meant to be done.

Well, it's not like all of rio's "Commie" Black Metal is getting much notice from many more people than him and Trapt, and EmperorBlackDoom for some reason. I think it's just that some people will pay more attention to one sort of BM more than others - the idea of Black Metal made by people that share one's personal political views resonates more with those who choose bands by their views, than with others like me who it matters less to. Not to restart any arguments or anything.

I've reviewed fuck all "communist" black metal outside of that Jarost Marksa EP.

That's just it, though; bands like MB play no nonsense black metal in the old way without politics.

Well, you know my thoughts - Black Metal is beyond politics. The two have nothing to do with each other, and bands who try to shoehorn them in miss the point of both.

Communist black metal... what's next? Black metal dedicated to MLK? The feminist movement?
Gay rights?

Sorry, doesn't compute.

But let's not derail this thread, please, with yet another political circle jerk, we've all been down that beaten path before.

This thread is about the awesomness of barbarian Czech Black metal band Maniac Butcher.

I can agree mostly with that, yes.
Black metal ideology is, generally speaking, Neitzchsean in nature, though.

Well given that it only exists in one obscure Russian band's (in my opinion excellent) EP, unless you also count Skartasis's mind, there's no problem.

I will give any and all black metal a chance, but I find it easier to listen to something like Maniac Butcher than some other political minded groups. This best makes good stuff. Thanks for the review.

Wow. Never heard of these guys before and just now got to reading everyone else's reviews. I must say I'm pumped to hear this.
