No, that's cause we're too stupid to multiply numbers that don't end in zero. :D

After a long session of deep thought, I have to go with Iced Earth. They were acttualy one of the first bands I picked up on when I started listening to metal, and therefore have a sort of value in that respect. However, BG is a very close runner up in the fact that as soon as I picked up Night at the Opera I immediatley had to find every album they may have sneezed in the genreral direction of. Bottom line, both Jon Schafer and Hansi Kursch are two of my favorite musicians, and now I have to listen to some BG just to beg forgivness.

How long did you have to think about it? What was the scenario? Were you at work and thinking in our head, "who is better?" What do you consider "a long session of deep thought?" Just curious.

Why am I so curious? What makes me think like this? Why am I still typing? Why?!!!!!

Welcome to the metal forums! :D

Well, I just went through my fav albums of each. BG I listened to parts of Night at the Opera, Tales from the Twilight World and Imaginations from the other Side. Iced Earth I listened to Horror Show, Stormrider and Something Wicked. When comparing two awesome bands like these, I couldnt just come up with a straight answer until I checked out the reasons I enjoy them in the first place. In the end, I have to go with Iced Earth just because I enjoy it slightly more. Maybe this is over analyzing, but hell thats one of the things I enjoy most about metal. The variety of whats out there makes it such that you can compare nearly any two bands out there and have various opinions from different people. Its not about conformity, but rather what truly works for the individual. I highly doubt that anyone who listens to rap or country can say the same. If youve heard one, youve heard them all. Oh yeah, and fuck MTV. Sorry, just had to get that out of my system

Voted for Blind Guardian since they're my favorite band of all time.

Both bands are amazing and easily make it into my top 10, but I'd give Blind Guardian the slight edge.
