I had heard about this band before, and I finally found their second CD, 'The Nephilim' (in the bargain bin, no less!) at a record shop in town. I'm really impressed with it... the lyrics are great, the sound is a bit "poppy", but still dark and ominous, and the vocals are really growing on me. They don't have a metal growl, per se, but they do have a deep raspy quality to them (like a weaker Peter Steele of Type-O-Negative). While I can't vouch for any other albums (I've heard a few MP3s and I'm still undecided about them) I highly recommend this album to anyone looking for some quality Goth-Rock or maybe "light-Doom".

Anyone else into them who can recommend another good album of theirs?

I'll try to get somethin' by them and then I'll let you know; the thing is with school and all the reviewing and shit it's hard to listen to ABSOLUTELY everything out there.

No need to apologize... I just wanted to see if anyone else had heard of them. Good job on all the reviews and such, btw... it's nice to see a slew of Black Metal reviews.

Hey man just seen this post, and totaly agree great group.Got into them at the end of the 80s,and loved them ever since.Believe they have reformed, but not totaly certain.
They were ahead of there times, and carl mccoy? the singer, did have a great voice that suited the music.Used to have all there albums on tape somewhere, best one was a great live album, sounded very epic.
Will try and find them, and look about the net to see if they have reformed, like you say they had a nice dark sound to them, best song for me was one called i think last goodbye, amazing end to it,as it builds and then goes off, fucking great memories, suprised no one else has replied
oh by the way they were in an late 80s flick called hardware with lemmy, british sci fi,film, think they did the music to it ,and had a small part.

New album November 11th! Woohoo!

Valefor, do you still post? You like lots of goth-rock bands, and I'd like to know your take on FoTN.

What i've heard from FotN has been pretty good. Not as homoerotic as Bauhaus. :)

I remember my friends talk about them. Perhaps I can listen to them and report back.

I have heard a song or two (The Watchman and For Her i believe) and I must say that their music is pretty transe-inducent and I believe is a great definition of a Darkwave band, along with Second Skin. If you are into Fields of the Nephilim, I think that you should check out the band Second Skin (they are Italian i believe?) But sorry, I am not too sure of them yet, but I am going to check them out some more.

Excellent goth rock!
There should be a classic review of their 1988's album, The Nephilim.
