Well, not sure about those, but I would say that you need to be able to type in order to criticise someone's writing.

Well, you would have to be able to type to criticize anything, really :)

My main criticisms would be that and the way the songs jump from between different moods/ideas without much cohesion or logic to the transitions.
Wait, is this A7X we're talking about or Opeth? :P

Opeth are pretty good at timing their transitions so that once the energy of one section is spent, a new one starts, so even if they put folk next to death metal at least the timing of the shift makes sense. The acoustic parts build tension towards the louder parts and once the louder parts start to lose their momentum it drifts back to quietness. Probably wasn't listening to a7x close enough to make any definite judgement but seemed like the songs never built up momentum because they kept jarringly switching directions.

Because you've turned them off for the whole site looks like.

I have? :omfg: They're working for me.

Well, I have "Always allow HTML" set to Yes in my profile, yet when I compose a message, HTML is "OFF". So perhaps it's a moderator feature only?

Trying the [doHTML] tag ..

[dohtml]
<table><tr><td>Column 1</td><td>Column 2</td></tr></table>
[/dohtml]

Nope.

It works for me and I'm no moderator.

Well, seems I've to give this a try, at least to contribute the shitfest... but better if I listen another time to new BG, before that.

A lot of you guys are taking way too much pleasure in bashing this band. Whether the band's image fits the Hot Topic scene or is enjoyed by the emo crowd is completely irrelevant to the quality of the music. Remember that whether you're running to the trend or running away from the trend, you're still a coward on the run.

It reminds me of when I was at a Kamelot show in Orange County and someone said "You're not even metal. You don't belong here," because I have short hair and can fit in at a sports bar without creeping out the ladies.

Whether you like A7X or not you have to give them credit for bringing twin guitar harmonies back to mainstream radio for the first time since God knows how long. They're also not afraid to mix in styles likely to draw criticism. For the record, I liked their attempt at country, "Dear God."

Is this album worth 90? Probably not.. but there are some great songs like Nightmare, Welcome to the Family, Natural Born Killer, and Save Me. Some great lyrics too, particularly on the title track where you feel the guilt and pain of knowing you deserve your damnation to hell.

If you truly don't like A7X's music, then this album won't change your mind, but if you haven't given the music a fair shot yet, then definitely give this a look. This is truly one of the better American bands of this generation.

Bullet For My Valentine did it first. And they did it better.

I would not go that far... BFMV is kind of terrible and I think with another singer A7X would have been a decent band on CoE and the 2008 ST. Much better than BFMV would ever dream to be anyway.

I can't believe how many post this one has gotten, oh well reading through is much more entertaining than the album anyway.

I really don't care at all about what's on the radio, so it's not a big deal to me if they "brought back" twin guitar harmonies or not. The idea that they "brought them back" is kinda silly anyhow, because outside of the radio rock cesspit, they never went anywhere.

Sorry, but no. If this band really was one of the better American bands of this generation, then American music is fucking dead. Thankfully, that's not the case.

Also, for the record, I listened to the title track with as much of an open mind as I could give it, and ugh... That guy's voice couldn't be any more annoying if he tried. Whether he's ripping off Hetfield or doing that awful nasally chattering thing... it's just gross. Also, the music is totally unremarkable. It's like the bastard child of Metallica's most commercial rock songs made a Guns N Roses cover band. The only thing that song left me with was an overwhelming unenthusiasm and mild sense of annoyance.

Bullshit, The Poison is one of the best mainstream metalcore albums ever released, along with The Fall of Ideals and The War Within. Although The War Within isn't quite metalcore.

You have every right to voice out your poor taste in music and I have every right to be appalled by it.
Actually, I really am.

I hope you were referring to modern mainstream?
