Like my Slavic one before, I'd like to hear of anything little known that anyone thinks would be good to hear or wants me to review.

I have heard of the obvious ones. So anything under the radar would be cool to know of.

Yes, German ones too.

Katharsis, to start. And Lunar Aurora.

Brain fried too. +1 on Pensees Nocturnes

So are Ad Hominem, I think.

I forgot Temple of Baal were French. Great band. Good thinking, steve.

I will not dispute this as I am a huge fan of SMRC, though all of them collectively make for an enjoyable listening experience.. Fas ite is still growing on me however, after two years, it didn't grab me as much as SMRC and I don't think it ever will..

From germany: Fäulnis, Klage, Kargvint, Nyktalgia, Morrigan (okay, this one is maybe a bit more viking stuff, but anyhow..), Interitus, Wigrid

I'll leave french to the others, not really interested from most of the stuff that comes out there these days.

The frontman of Jarost Marksa is French, although the rest of the band are Russian and they live in Russia. This is pretty good, super scuzzy and chaotic black metal.

I approve. Don't they only have that one EP?

Gris are French-Canadians and kick ass.

I had high hopes for Jarost Marksa when I heard they were commie black metal as it was the first time I've heard of such band, but I was underwhelmed by the music.

Wow 15 replies!!! It's great to see the help I'm getting here. I have heard of Pensees Nocturnes as well as Alcest. I'm looking into purchasing Paysage D'Hiver's stuff, and I heard a song from Lunar Aurora last night that shook me.

Thanks for the assistance, I'm looking forward to getting a hold of something by Lunar Aurora and reviewing it.

Indeed. Lunar Aurora is German black metal at its best. I do hope they decided to continue the project once more.
