So what's the story with Anthrax? I am actually shocked people even put them in the same category as Testament, Metallica, Sepultura and Megadeth. Do people seriously love bands like Overkill to the degrees they claim? Anyway, this isn't meant to bag on those bands, this is a thread to discuss bands that you think are mysteriously far overrated so those questions are rhetorical.

I have tried at least a half dozen times to understand why Motorhead is considered one of the best ever and i'm not hearing it.

Have you heard anything laughably bad that people seem to love?

Trivium would be my main pick, although I've never seen the point of Six Feet Under. Hey, why is this in Power Metal? Deserves to be in Gen. Music so my fellow black(metalhead)s can get in on the action.

I'm going to bring on the hate and say Darkthrone. They're not necessarily bad but beyond influence I see no reason to recognize them as great. I'm never itching to listen.

I really don't consider much of anything "laughably bad" other than an obvious amateurish effort. If you are suggesting Anthrax, Overkill and Motorhead are laughably bad, I think the questioning of your own taste is in order, not ours.

Motorhead is aces.

Pffffff. What is there not to like about a dash of tech-death in your black metal? I could understand if you don't see them as the end all be all, which myself and others frame them as, but to not get into them at all boggles me.

Add Vader, Napalm Death, Therion, The Crown, power metal in its entirety, Cathedral, and Coroner to my tab.

@waffleloop: Go listen to Darkness Descends and get Dark Angel off that list. Whoever doesn't hear that as Reign in Blood but 4x better is deaf.

I'll go with Anthrax. Nothing I've ever heard from them got me to go more than a resounding "meh."

Dark Angel.. how the hell are they overrated? No one except metal circles even really know of them, and they haven't received half of the attention that a boring band like Metallica has. Anyways, I'd have to say Gorguts, their music isn't all that amazing as say Atheist, and is at best harmless on The Erosion of Sanity.

As for Anthrax, overall they're pretty meh but they have some awesome tracks like Indians and I Am the Law. I basically stick to Among the Living and it suits my needs.
