I heard them but wasn't particularly intrigued.

idk I the riffs were ok but that style of drumming is so stiff and flavourless and song killing.

I want to say I did and didn't care for it? Which album in particular?

Also I'll be throwing the new Aosoth and Celestia up there on my list for sure. The French know what's up with black metal.

I know fans of extreme metal will probably disagree with me but this one belongs to my top 10 list of 2010 so far and I cannot believe I had forgotten to mention it before :

What exactly is extreme about that one?

As for my favourites, it has been a pretty slow year, propably just Belus on my list at the moment.

Extreme depends of what one usually listens to. It is for me.

Aosoth? Really?

Each to their own. Agreed on the Pensees Nocturnes, though.

As for me... definitely the new Twilight, definitely Triptykon. THey're probably shaping up to take the top two slots. But the new Chrome Hoof is shaping up to storm right up there. (review on monday)

Yeah. I know it's not a terribly innovative album or whatever but the sound that album has and the song structures are very pleasurable to my ears. The first track is kinda weak but after that it really picks up IMO.

More of a personal fav than something that should probably be really highly rated.

Oh yeah, and I'll probably be throwing in Twilight. I need to give that album another listen I've sort of neglected it.

Nevermore - Obsidian Conspiracy
Overkill - Ironbound
Dark Tranquillity - We Are The Void
High On Fire - Snaks For The Divine

Hell I think they're the only albums I've brought this year!

The stand out ones for me are Ironbound by Overkill and Majesty and Decay by Immolation.

After only 18 seconds into the album:

Return to Heaven Denied, Pt. II is the best album so far this year.

How do you even know that? I happen to really love Moonlight and that riff is reprised almost immediately. How about thinking before you post some dumb shit that attempts to make yourself look smarter.

I made the same prediction about Sernity's WU&DU album after the first 5 seconds of Reduced To Nothingness.
