No love for Necropedophile or The Cryptic stench? Holy fuck, I love this album going on twenty years now and it's still as intense as it was back then. I would go so far to say as this is the greatest piece of Florida death metal, spawned by the toiling of Scream bloody gore and the scene from where it came from. Yet with its own unique sound and shattering any and all contemporaries of Floridian death metal. This is death fucking metal and along with Butchered At birth both albums are classics of the genre

In my first couple of reviews (including my samples) I chose not to give to much information on individual songs and instead shed light on the impact of the album and the overall sound. If mentioning each song like some reviewers do on classics floats your boat then let me know and I'll work on that. But yeah, I did put ALL on the killing songs tab.

And I pretty much agree, as a Floridian who is well versed in DM, that this is the best thing ever from the Sunshine State.

Death > Cannibal Corpse

Any day, any time, any where.

I would add Morbid Angel to that list too (well ignoring Heretic)

Cannibal Corpse is fun though.

There is no comparison really. CC is good and all but it doesn't even come close to the Schuldiner.

I agree, but with a slight change, CC > Obituary.

No way. CC is inferior to these 3. IMO, the order is Death, Obituary-Morbid Angel (tied), CC.

CC's albums are all solid and fun but wouldn't call any of them classics.

+1. Solid 75 throughout their career with Kill picking it up a notch. Maybe influence gives 'em the classic moniker? Which I could agree with.

Bullshit. In terms of influence Death will always reign over any band, however, in terms of savagery Cannibal Corpse shit on Death and then some.

Psh, I can name probably 10 or more Death Metal albums off the top of my head that are better than anything Cannibal Corpse ever did.

They're not bad, but Classic? Nah.

If influence alone a classic makes, then Roots should have been classic too.

IMO CC > Death. Not because of songwriting, which Schuldiner destroys them in, but in terms of what I like, and that being aggression over progression.

I reckon 7 out of 10 people will rank Death above CC, but to me there is nothing heavier than CC

Yeah, I'd agree with that, although I'd say Morbid Angel, Obituary and Death are all too brilliant in different ways to make that comparison fair. Deicide are better than CanniCorps, in my opinion, a good deal heavier and more savage - if the Canns got a decent drummer my opinion of them would shoot up, but I always get a bit disappointed when Masterwitz does his TAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPfuckingTAPTAPTAPTAP thing. I do like them, though, keep meaning to do a rio-esque review of the debut that focuses on the aarrghzombie aspect.

Hahahaha stop picking on Paul, and if you want to insult him, Benton's vocals sound like he's grunting like a pig.
