What are some album titles/themes that you can honestly say haven't been touched upon? What style of metal do you think they'd be best explored in, and do you think it's likely a band will touch on the subject in the future?

Female genital mutilation. When I'm in a grindcore band, I will write an entire song about it because no one probably else will.

Hidden sexual encounters between an octopus and some cats. I'm sure there's no songs about that. A conceptual album about it will be great.

A concept album based on some junkie falling in love with a prostitute turned nun named Mary.

I want to see a concept album that's about the writing and recording of a concept album.

Meta!

I think Kevin Gilbert's The Shaming of the True is about the recording industry, so that's pretty close.

Writing a power metal album that is not about dragons, wizards, swords and/or unicorns is something that's so radical its release could spawn a new French Revolution.

There should be more non-power metal about dragons and wizards and swords, too.

I've never heard a single metal song about war, come to think of it. Surely that's an area ripe for lyrical plunder?

How about the banality of life in the suburbs? Changing diapers and soccer practice? Surely there must be some 30-something angst to tap into.

I want to see a thrash metal album about the Obama Administration. Now THAT would be something!
