Baroness -- Red Album

The relentless Mastodon comparisons are really starting to bug me. They're not getting their due credit, because it seems everyone looks at them as "Mastodon #2" or some shit. I mean, for fuck's sake.

Baroness is much better than Mastodon.

I know man it's odd you bring it up; because I just picked it up yesterday, and the melodies are still fresh in my head. I'm going to check out the Blue Album now, but Mastodon really have nothing on Baroness.

I'd say Red Album > Blue Record, but only by a little bit.

To me it's like crack. I keep coming back.

Which album should I get next?

Probably The Locust Years. The Bastard is really good too although it took me a long time to get into. Fields/Church of Broken Glass has a different singer who I don't like nearly as much but it's got a couple amazingly good songs.

I still rly like the Kashiwa Daisuke album.

I've heard things I like from both The Locust Years and The Bastard, so maybe I'll just go for both at once. Haven't heard anything from Fields, though.

I think the concept for The August Engine makes more sense if you read the lyrics in order from the last song to the first. They have some pretty bitching lyrics.
