I happen to like Muse, sir. But this album just struck me as... bland.

This is a good album took me a few listens to get into but once I did I liked it a lot. Origin of Symmetry is my favorite Muse album and this one isn't close, but still a solid album. 78/100./

Origin of symmetry is also my favorite. What an album!

This was pretty lame. There's some good stuff there obviously and I guess you have to admire its ambition in trying to do something a little different.

But not their finest hour.

This is my first Muse album and I totally love it!

I mean , how could you not ?
The drum pounding , the vocals and keyboard/piano
is what sticks out the most. Ok you can easily spot the influences
like Depeche mode on "Undisclosed Desires" or Queen on "United States of Eurasia" but this does not detract from the songs as a whole. The album kicks off with a bang with "Uprising" and "Resistance" which IMO remain two of the best songs off "The Resitance" but the rest is of the album is very well diverse and worthy of our attention.

I wasn't expecting much when I purchased this album, due to the review here, but I found a very enjoyable album. I don't understand what the fuss is about not liking it on these boards.

Because compared to Black Holes & Revelations or Origin Of Symmetry it's really unremarkable. We were all expecting something fantastic, and we got mediocre cash-cow milking.

Yeah. This was a very poppy album from them, before they've managed to balance it out well. Check their past three albums out, if you like this you'll love them.

I like the poppy side of this album, it gives me a break from all the other stuff I listen to. Though, On the scale of pop, th this album doesn't rank very high. Maybe it's very poppy compared to their previous works but compared to anything else out there it's quite low IMO.
