Completely agree with this review. This album just straight up rocks. The Queen influences are really great and every song has the potential to get stuck in your head for days. The only track that seemed a bit filler to me was "The Face of Truth." Not a bad song, just not as strong as the rest. 95/100

An excellent album. I like it more and more with each listen. Favorite songs would be Ashen Paradise, Ode To Joy, A Better Me and Farewell (I'm a sucker for grandiose ballads ...)

Heavenly were somewhat tolerable on Coming From the Sky and Dust to Dust, but this heavier sound doesn't suit them. Actually, just like Virus, I find it unbearable. The only good thing I find in Carpe Diem are the first two songs. And I completely disagree with Chris about Ben Sotto's voice. I think this is his worst performance. I've heard bad power metal singers before and while Sotto is not one of them he is very whiny and annoying here.

I usually agree with your opinions on power metal as you are evidently a big and knowledgeable fan. This time, however, I can't disagree more. Suffice to say the review is spot on, although I might just give Dust to Dust the nod as the better of the two albums. Definitely one of last years' highlights.

One of my favorite albums of the year in any metal genre. A great album by the band (although I still think Virus and "Dust to Dust" are slightly better).
Definitely a 90-95/100 album.

You've sold me Chris. I was on the fence after some negative comments from others, but I'm buying this next CD purchase. Happy New Year to you too. Hope to see some more power metal reviews.

97/100?

You gotta be kidding! (kidding, each to their own)

I agree with Pyroman, that Sotto's vocals are unbearable at the best of times.
While the music on the album is quite good, I just can't stand the vocals and the 2 songs which have that Queen similarity.

A very frustrating album to get into and I've spun it so many times and just can't enjoy it to the extent of giving it 97/100.

I have my review for this album on The Metal Forge (gave it 6/10).

On here, I'd be going for around 70/100.

Disappointing that after Dust to Dust and Virus, they produce this album, which IMO is a step backwards...its really by the numbers, where they could have done so much better

Good to have you back on board Chris :)

Though I have to disagree with you on this one. Never got this band but decided to check this out. And well, didn't like it. Not at all. Pretty darn bad. 40 / 100

I totally agree with this review ! Great album! Can't stop listening to it.
I don't think people will like this if they didn't like virus or dust to dust.

I like this band because they like naked women. (NSFW)

Not a bad clip at all, but more of the good bits and a less footage of the band wouldn't hurt.

Great record once again from these dudes. Almost as good as, or even slightly better than Virus... can't actually decide, but anyways both of 'em are masterpieces...

You guys must try new Kiuas album Lustdriven, too, if you haven't already... I linked a video of a great tune on the discussion about them... The clip might not be as... ahem... :P uplifting as this Fullmoon, but still, it is very listenable and watchable!

That song is no doubt lame for people who don't like that brand of melodic power metal.

I, however, am not one of those lame people.

I can dig power metal.

So in the interest of fairness, I just gave it another listen.

Not feeling it. SO not feeling it.
