The only thing that comes to mind is The Light That Blinds by Shadows Fall...which isn't all that great itself. I find that most bands I like will have more than one good song...

Nile - Lashed to the Slave Stick, Unas Slayer of the Gods, the bit in Black Seeds of Vengeance where they repeat the song title.

Emperor - In The Wordless Chamber - only Emperor song I like and probably cause it has a whole wall of noise sound that is occassionally interrupted by what sounds like hunting horns.
I'm sure there's others...

You are on thin ice already, new person :P

Seriously though, "In the Wordless Chamber" is the only one Emperor song that is a 'whole wall of noise'? That's news to me!

I'm thinking like, he hasn't heard Anthems, or was unconscious through like half of it.

Anyway I can name about 2 quadrillion bands here so I won't even go there.

but still

Even though I have heaps of respect for them, and think Painkiller is on par with Maiden's best, I still think that Judas Priest don't really do it for me. Especially in their earlier, gayer stuff.

It's ridiculous.

On any account, I'm seeing Iron Maiden in June, and I'm going to enjoy all the songs, because it's IRON FUCKING MAIDEN! :dio:

Yeah this too. I was gonna say Judas Priest - Beyond the Realms of Death but people would call me a fag and I like a lot of their other songs but that one reaches super levels of "oh shit!"

Fag.

Yeah, that must be it...

Yeah, suddenly Judas Priest does come to mind! I don't think I have any respect for them though.

Don't care much for JP either, beyond the well-known singles. But it's the same for me with much of the oldies. If I want something from an older age I'll go for end of sixties, start of seventies music. Probably I'm not metal enough, I like my metal a bit diluted and mixed up with other genres in interesting ways. Pure metal is like pure alcohol to me - fantastic when well-dosed, deadly when concentrated.

And if I want music with a gay vocalist to fill my diversity quotum, I'll go for Prince. Yes!

Well, if you can't beat 'em....

Yeah, Judas Priest is pretty bland. Just doesn't do much for me. I'm not into that straight forward metal stuff. I think it's kind of silly.

Wow. Choosing Maiden over Priest is lame.

And Fall of Troy only have a few good songs. I'd add Throwdown to the list. I'm sure there are others I just can't think of any right now.

LOL at your avatar.

Anyway, I think Angra fits into this category for me. Granted, I haven't really spent a lot of time devoted to them, but it seems that there are a few songs on each album that are absolutely fantastic and the rest just good, but not stunning.

But isn't that most bands? Are there any bands that you think have 100% great songs? I sure don't know any. Most good albums have a few standout tracks and the rest is hit and miss.

This thread is confusing me. There is a big difference between saying that you like one song total from a band, and saying that you like a few on each album.

All the bands I love are good at putting out albums of 100% or at least 90% amazing songs.

Really, I can't think of a band that I only like one song from. I agree with noodles, most bands I like put out nearly all great songs. Maybe not all are perfect, but I'd definitely say that bands like Wolves in the Throne Room put out songs that are all great or better.

But wait- I thought this site had an agenda to further old metal at the expense of new metal :omfg:

Now I'm confused

Seriously though, I can't think of much here... I tend to either like a band's sound or not like it.

Probably a load of pop or indie rock acts have songs that have really caught me nicely.
