I'm probably going to be considered mad for making this topic, in this age we live in where it seems the world is getting smaller. What do you think of when you see the mad ramblings of Alex Jones or those who believe in the Illuminati or some vast globalist conspiracy? I'm aware this is a separate question from the one I intend to ask.

Do you think in our lifetimes we will see a global system of governance for all human beings? Do you think it will happen and if so, what possible outcomes might be the result? Do you believe we are better off in this system as opposed to normal countries?
I apologize if I am rambling, the issue is just heavy on my mind as of lately.

A One World Government would probably not be a bad idea. As long as it's not an African government or something.

One World Gov does not equate to totalitarianism. Nor does 1984 present a O.W.G. situation- there are three countries there.

No, sir, I don't like it.

I don't buy into the conspiracy bullshit, but I sure don't like the idea of a one-world government.

However, I can tell you one thing... when the world becomes saturated with government, and our freedoms are slowly taken away... space will be the next lawless frontier. I can't wait. :dio:

I'll be dead by then, for sure, but still, the idea of space outlaws and intergalactic vigilante justice just makes my inner nerd quiver with glee.

Alex Jones is a raving lunatic. There will never be a one-world government, and if somehow such a thing were possible then it depends.

I think there is a lot of stuff worth listening to with guys like Jones. There is mountains of evidence to support a lot of the claims made about a variety of things and there is a lot the media will never touch. Unfortunately religious end of days nuttery is not one of those things. People should worry more about why energy systems that would have fossil fuels obsolete sit on the shelf and the 500 or so leaders of the military that have set foot on alien craft and personally have witnessed the bodies and have signed sworn statements to that effect. People really need to be concerned that the US government can and has had the ability to give someone cancer and rub them out at any time for speaking their minds.

Because cancer is the most efficient way of snubbing someone's life.

Anyways about a OWG, ummm, I think it'd be dumb. The needs and characteristics of different people across the globe is too varied. It would be really goofy and cumbersome. However, a much more compassionate, active set of countries willing to help one another and fix the mess we're in would be nice.

Yes. Perhaps the UN should take a far more active role in world affairs and be more powerful, and democratically elected.

As for UFOs, at Adveser.

A single world government would be able to do as it pleases without being checked by anything, including rewriting history as it saw fit and creating the oppressed but adoring masses. What's not 1984 about that? Entirely hypothetical, but put in that position what's to stop them?

Also as other people've stated, different parts of the globe have different cultural, environmental and economical needs to make it viable. What would happen to any country that didn't want to be a part of it either?

Why would a OWG be any more inclined to totalitarianism than the government of a single country? A OWG might be like North Korea, or it might be like Switzerland.

Meaning direct democracy and high government transparency.

The minaret ban was a popular vote, it garnered massive turnout, and no matter what you think about the law itself, there's no question that it was representative of the people's will, and not the government, which openly condemned it- yet supported the people's decision.

I'm on Frig's side with this. Democracy doesn't always equal freedom, especially when you have xenophobes like the Swiss.

I am against this because imo Canadians are better than the rest of the world and I would not like to see our kindness and intelligence polluted with your douchebaggery and intolerance.

I believe that "one world" government will never exist (as a result of peaceful unification), simply because humans and politics are far too complicated.
One world government might exist in one case only; and that is if someone enforces his government as a result of one nation/race/union conquering the whole planet.
