Hellish Crossfire - Bloodrust Scythe is pretty good, not heard much else. Bit early, no?

Well I assume that the 2010 is a typo, so anyone silently boiling up with rage that the reader awards aren't up yet, can I suggest that yo post here (or in the appropriate thread) now.

Yeah, that's right. All five spots are new, young bands with commercial potential.

If you don't like it, you can eat my shit, you elitist fucking assholes.

With all due respect to your opinion, DW, which I honestly value. :)

Municipal Waste were formed in 2001, RumpGrinder in 02. Is that really still "new", being nearly a decade old? [/pedantic fucking asshole]

Why no love for Vektor, dude?

Haven't heard it yet.

I think i've mentioned this before, but I go through phases. From Thrash to Prog, mainly.

Right now it's all about Prog, and i've been spending my time over at the progarchives forum (slutty, i know) .

That's relevant because all of my money for new music has therefore been directed at buying new prog, and the last strictly metal release I heard was World Painted Blood, which I didn't even really give much time.

Anyway, it's just a matter of time before all i'll listen to is Thrash again. Always is.

Neato, progarchives is a great site. Share the love if you find anything good.

Damn, I wouldn't know where to start!

Traditionally i'm a fan of 70s prog, both famous and obscure. But lately I'm allowing myself to discover the wealth of fantastic contemporary bands, particuarly from Europe where there appears to be a very healthy scene at the moment. (Sweden especially).

I feel completely inundated, which is terrific, but like I said, I wouldn't know where to begin on recommendations.

Transatlantic's newest album has got me completely hooked, though, I will say that. One 77 minute song which flows perfectly. I think I prefer Mike Prtnoy's more restrained drumming as well, as opposed to on Dream Theatre albums. It has more finesse. Great, great album.

Ah yeah, been meaning to check them out, cheers for the reminder. 70s, huh, you like Genesis/Jethro Tull? Reviewed a great little band called Shadow Circus this week.

I love Genesis and Tull, amongst many many others. I have over 150 prog albums, and you just know I have them all listed alphabetically, hehe. Had some nice conversations about Genesis with Thomas who i sometimes see on MSN.

And I actually just bought the Shadow Circus album a couple of weeks ago. John Fontana from the band posts on progarchives and he came on to let us know that all proceeds from purchases of his album (directly from their website) until the end of the month go to the Haiti earthquake relief fund.

So i bought it. The newer one, i mean. "Whispers and Screams". I've never heard "Welcome To The Freakroom".
