Living Sacrifice - Living Sacrifice

pretty good old school thrash. Nowadays they are a shitty death metal/metalcore band, but still Christian.

Has Place of Skulls been mentioned? Also, Black Sabbath?

Alright, thanks for all the suggestions guys, i really appreciate it.

To Wintermute: Sabbath? Really?? I know they wrote about the devil being something to be afraid of, but christian? I dunno...I'm not a Sabbath expert. Sabbath kicks ass though.

After Forever has some of the most obnoxiously Christian lyrics ever.

Great song, though.

Just checked out the lyrics for that one and you are right, although me being a christian i don't find the lyrics obnoxious at all, but then again i'm probably biased

Blind Guardian? Apologies if that's a stupid answer, I vaguely remember some lyrics mentioning Jesus on A Night At The Opera.

Megadeth?

Those aren't really Christian bands. They just have one or two Christian bandmembers (namely Hansi Kursch and Dave Mustaine). Helloween is in the same position, although they're probably more openly-Christian than the other two. Especially on The Dark Ride and Better Than Raw.

Anyway, Metalstorm gave a pretty good list. Except I personally would've omitted Demon Hunter; they fall more in the "mediocre Christian Metal" camp IMO. I'd also add Rob Rock to the list (Christian power/classic metal).

I was being sarcastic, putting music into a religious category has always
seemed like a ridiculous idea to me. It doesn't make the music
any better and lyrics can be spiritual without having to be
of a single particular faith. Plus the idea of a whole album
praising/preaching one faith is just not very appealing and sort of creepy.

Just to prove my point how this is ridiculous, take
black Christian metal for instance, it's like the biggest oxymoron ever
and defeats the whole purpose of being 'Black Metal'.

I disagree a whole album about christianity could be sick if done properly.

AND HE WILL CAST THEE DOWN AS THE LORD SMITES THE HEATHEN

think about it, an album talking about the inquisitions, bible, other shit thats gone down.

Whatever floats your boat. If I want to be preached too, I'll go to church, and even then they manage to bore the hell out of me with the same sermons year after year. So in reality it's a really awful idea.

uh, what i said has nothing to do with being preached to. how is talking about historical events like the inquisition being preached to? it's the same as that Gettysburg Iced Earth album. It's hilarious listening to metalheads cry about religion.

your first post fucking sucks to, jesus you're on a really suckfest right now. It's creepy for people to write lyrics about what they believe in? What the fuck?

yeah who the fuck wants to ever write meaningful lyrics, all songs should just contain screams and chainsaw noises and maybe a few belches just so we know they drink beer.

I think it's great that bands want to write about what they believe, but fuck if I care I barely listen to metal outside of extreme metal and 50% of the time I couldn't care less about the lyrics.

This has nothing to do with being preached too. These are bands singing about what they believe in and fans enjoying those songs. How is it any different than a Viking metal band singing about Odin (if that's what they believe in)?
