A few months ago my hard drive spacked out and I lost everything, including all my metal music.

I'm trying to remember all the best metal releases for 2009 (power/gothic/heavy), but so far can only think of a few...

Can people put up a list and/or post a link of a website that has all the power metal releases for 2009 please...

Thanks guys...

I've listened to half of the new Anubis Gate, and it is great.

There are too many fruity power metal bands on your list Ness. Try some of highlighted bands, especially Brainstorm, Mob Rules, Nightmare and Thunderstone. That should even things out a bit.

I can't honestly think of a single power metal album released this year that I enjoyed.

I've never been a fan of Mob Rules. I own "Temple of Two Suns", and I've always thought it was pretty generic. How does this compare?

Not very fond of the stuff released this year... Maybe Status Minor - Dialog and Rebellion - Arise. That Rebellion is actually one of the best of the year. But yeah, no0t much good Power Metal this year. I'll succumb to being to harsh on that DGM. It's pretty neat.

Right you are about the external hard disk. I have a friend who can get me a 1TB for $100.

I am aware of Sonata Arctica, but there is also Edguy on the 3rd of Jan at Billboard, plus also Paradise Lost with Sirenia later on in the month...again at the Billboard...and in february we have HIM coming to town..

Thanks for the list...I had a great deal of those albums on my pc before the crash, most I hadn't even gotten around to, like Cain's Offering, the new Strato (a good long listen), Grave Digger, Bloodbound and Axxis...

It's gonna suck getting all of them back

Mob Rules have vastly improved since "Temple". Try "Ethnolution A.D." and/or the latest one "Radical Peace"

On Radical Peace I feel they've gone for a change of sound. At times it sounds like Brainstorm, with less keyboards and more complex compositions than any other album Mob Rules have released and Trial by Fire has to be the best song they have written.

Ness, you can hear both Trial by Fire and Astral Hand, two of the best songs on the album, on MySpace

Nice list but Queensryche  first off they aren't power metal second off that album is far from being anything power metal and third that album shouldn't be on any Best Of list that album was a disappointment as have most post Empire stuff.
