Gonna try a new tuning: CFCAFD

Any experiences with that?

I think that's the tuning that Devin Townsend uses

Trying to play with my mom on a daily basis. Nice practice playing with other people.

thinking of buying one of these guitars, too:
Gibson Les Paul Studio
Epiphone Les Paul Custom

Seems kinda weird buying something without playing it tho >_<

The epiphone is actually a very nice guitar, sounds and plays almost like a real gibson and you cant beat that price really, some of the best affordable instruments out there along with the Mexican Strats, just dont get the lower end models, anything from a les paul standard and above is good, IMO the les paul custom is one of the most beautiful guitars ever made, i should be getting a used epiphone les paul standard for 150 bucks this saturday, what i dont recomend is buying an instrument without playing it previously.

Yeah I lost the bidding on the Studio so thinking about the Epiphone. I've played what I think is the same model at a store here, but they cost 350$ more than the ebay one. Pretty skeptical about buying a guitar over the internet but the price difference is big t.t

Gibson. Strings it came with are way smaller than I'm used to which is kinda annoying but also making me think I should switch to smaller strings.

I got myself one of these:

I'll post some pics of the real guitar later but its the same model and color, now im on the search for a good guitar amp that is also affordable, im also gonna buy some real pedals and then get rid of that lousy boss multieffects that i have, i got my eyes on the metal muff by electro harmonix, a keeley compressor (so fucking expensive), Boss Ns-2 noise supressor, Maxon OD-9, or maybe the keeley modified Ibanez Ts-9, im also thinking of a phaser and an analog delay but i havent reaserched that much on wich phaser to buy and the analog delay of electro harmonix is too damned expensive.

Also thinking of changing the pickups of my Ibanez for some Dimarzio's and maybe buy a Seymour for my Epi, the Ibanez needs them more though so i would probably change those first, im dying to get a fernandez sustainer for my Ibanez but i dont dare to install it myself and i still havent found someone who can do it in my area.

My next guitar is going to be a Fender Stratocaster with a maple fretboard, probably a Mexican one but i wont buy it until i finish buying all of the above (never?), and after that maybe a tele.

Nice! I had my eye on a black Epiphone, but the Gibson was on sale so it was less expensive and I couldn't resist that. I only just started thinking about pedals in the last week or so. Probably getting a volume pedal and a analog delay pedal for that echoey sound.

Some interesting blog posts I've been reading:
http://greenleafmusic.com/blog/2009/12/ ... ronome.php Metronomes
http://greenleafmusic.com/blog/2008/07/ ... aining.php ear training. I like the idea of playing melodies in all 12 keys.

I wanna get a 6 string bass set to Drop E (E-B-E-A-D-G) for many lulz and sonic destruction.

That's a drop of a P5. Enjoy your floppy strings.

Yeah I can't imagine that sounding like anything other than noise.

It's be more like the low 6 strings of a 7 string bass (ie.F#-B-E-A-D-G-C), minus the high C. Just use those gauge strings and get a modded nut so that the strings fit properly. Probably need more work than that but it should work in theory. A friend of mine has a 7 string bass tuned to a 7 string guitar (down an octave though!) that sounds fine at any rate.

The low E's about 20 Hz. So it'd be audible, but you'd probably feel it more than hear it. The joys of sub bass!

I've only heard of 7-strings in the realms of myth and legend. To me, it seems like a bit overkill, but then that's what I thought of 6-strings at first.

I don't know where you'd be able to find a string set for a 7-string, but I shudder to think about how much they would cost. Bass strings are already too expensive.

Seems like it would be cool to fool around with, but I don't think I'd be willing to pay however much it would take just to play a low low E.

I dunno... You can get a second hand mid range 6 string off eBay for pretty cheap, the strings would be a case of getting a 5 string set and buying the thicker one separately.

Check out Conklin and Ritter basses, some of the models are insane :|.
