There's plenty of In Flames oldschool moments throughout their newer work, even in Soundtrack which I consider to be a pretty bad album, but I'll listen to it anyway because I love In Flames.

Either way, I really like what they do and pretty much like all their albums equally outside of Soundtrack. It's nice that they try something a bit different on each of their albums, or at least every couple albums... Some other bands in the genre tend to get stale but I don't feel that In Flames does.

I know that's pretty kvlt and ice cold of me, bros.

The new stuff kicks ass live, too.

new stuff just has a great energetic feel. stuff from soundtrack is awesome, didnt really like it when i first heard it nowadays changed my mind on them completely. touch of red is a great song. I like the vocals a lot to, very emotional.

Lies. How The World Came to an End is a fantastic album, regardless of whether it's metal or not.

I like it too. But I don't like Vilosophe one bit. That was the epic nosedive for me.

Ah, my bad man, sorry!

A good enough defense. Admittedly, I'd probably like their newer material more if Anders didn't adopt such a whiny clean-singing voice. It sounds utterly dreadful to my ears.

Queensryche. This band hasn't put out anything decent post Empire. Their new one doesn't cut it for me and I have now given up on this band.

+1

I really tried to give 'Americn Soldier' a chance to grow on me but it just never did. I've decided to wash my hands of them as well.

You mean post-Promised Land. That album at least had some excellent tunes on it, whereas the others... not so much. If any at all.

What's that Canadian band again? I always forget. Well, after their latest album I always forget, that is.

i dont know there was this metal band that made a pretty good death metal album called none so vile in 1995 then got a new vocalist, changed directions a little bit, wasnt the best, wasn't the worst, then got the same vocalist back, made another pretty good album called once was not, then got another new vocalist and decided to take a shit on their fans and tell their fans how much they suck when they start playing metalcore 6 years late.

cryptopsy or something like that

Yeah, Cryptopsy. Can't believe no one has mentioned them yet.

Cryptopsy was already mentioned on the first page.

My pick - Tristania. They used to put out some great gothic metal .. but their latest was simply terrible. Extremely mediocre.

As for some of the rest (Metallica/Megadeth/Helloween) .. really .. this tired old schtick is starting to smell. Even the In Flames bashing stopped being interesting years ago.

I don't really see why people hate on Dimmu, anyway. Or Cradle. I mean, they're really not all that bad. In fact I like both bands quite a bit.

The thing with nosediving is that it's sudden, of course. Dimmu Borgir has been steadily declining since the early albums, so that wouldn't qualify.

In Sorte Diaboli was a great album. I'm not a huge fan but I think it's definitely a good piece of work. It has many more outstanding moments that separates it from say, the 3 previous releases or so.

Yeah, I'll admit it's a very slight step up, but it's still crap to me. But not as crappy as The Unspoken King.

Dimmu Borgir's new stuff sometimes has some great moments but then the rest is just bland.
