Great year for BM, particularly of the more experimental variety. Maybe it's just that I've been paying more attention, but that's how it seems to me.

I agree. It's terrible that such a great genre of metal like black metal is getting more exposure.

I doubt that I will ba able to compile a realiable list. I'm too slow to take things in, so I haven't really got the overview of the new releases. The few times I have tried to do lists like this I always find them to be horribly wrong later, when I have listened more thoroughly and listened to more albums.

Does the new Havohej count as a Black Metal album? It is so BM in terms of ideas and atmosphere, but at the same time not really metal per definition.

What was average about it? If you mean in that pure black metal kind of way then ya. You could almost argue that Krallice aren't even black metal. Its certainly not very dark, its just those riffs are mesmerizing. The new one is more or less the same thing as the first album just far better. Songs The Mountain and Monolith of Possession leave me speechless every time I hear them.

Anyone else like the Nokturnal Mortum, even though it isn't all that black metal?
