Megadeth is not thrash metal. Not lookin to start a flame war. Just thought I'd mention it again. Cuz its not thrash...never has been, especially isnt now.

Especially now they are so much thrash like they weren't since 20 years. How ignorant can someone be?

1. Kreator - Hordes Of Chaos
2. Skeletonwitch - Breathing The Fire
3. Hellwitch - Omnipotent Convocation
4. Megadeth - Endgame
5. Warbringer - Waking Into Nightmares

Honorable mention goes to:

Gama Bomb - Tales From The Grave In Space
Slayer - World Painted Blood
Austrian Death Machine - Double Brutal (This may very well make it into the top 5 yet, but I only bought it yesterday. More listens required.)

Edit: Nevermind, ADM is fun but it's not very good.

So nobody has posted something yet that I have not heard of. Thrash may be in, but actual good thrash is not, besides the odd few bands.

Thrash? Death? and Destroyer 666 ? thrash, black, death?

because this 2 would enter my thrash list, replacing Artillery, Slayer & At War.

Hm, does sound IMO more like (progressive) Black Metal. Whereas, there is sure some Thrash to hear...hmmm... ok, 2 of 3 songs there are Thrash, so it can be called so. ;) Whereas the production is a little bit thin...does sound like Ihsahns solo work...

for those who have not heard the new Sacrifice, I strongly advise you all to do so. It is by far the best of the year, and quite possibly the best of the last 9 years if not longer.

I also heard the new Whiplash, pretty good stuff. But I wouldn't call it 100% thrash, more like thrashy/speedy heavy metal.
Thrash was always to 40% (or so) Speed Metal.

Ok, I've got now the sacrifice and when the first vocals came I thought: Is there Schmier singing? Ok, it's not that bad... ( :D *Headbanging* to the music)

I think the reason why Robs vocals are different is mostly due to his age, but I like them. Sure his vocals 20 years ago were better, and some of the best in the thrash world, but his vocals now are cool and fit the meaty more modern production sound of Sacrifice in 2009.

I also missed Sacrifice on saturday, which made me sad. I was at Casino Rama getting rather drunk and watching boxing, I didn't find out about the Sacrifice show until sunday evening.

Meh, I dunno. Maybe. I still think they sound metalcore-ish/"tough-ish" and I continue to protest against them :P

Yeah, would have loved to see Sacrifice last Saturday but I'm low on cash these days and Opera House always has to make their tickets 20 bucks or more, which annoys me. That on top of the fact that they're always douchebags. meh.

Are you going to Piledriver/Twilight Hammer/Riotor at Velvet tonight? I'm definitely not missing it, trying to make up for missing out last weekend heh. Honestly I think I'm more excited about Twilight Hammer and Riotor than Piledriver. What do you think of Riotor? I gave Fucking Metal a few spins last winter I think it was, good stuff imo. Kind of curious to hear the Live For Steel material.

I didn't make it tonight because of work. As for Riotor, I have never heard of them. I am guessing I should change this?

I mentioned them on the "favourite new thrash bands" thread, but damnit all, I'll mention them again: H.O.D. More speed/power/thrash in the old Anthrax vein, but their newest one is my pick for thrash album of 2009. And they're giving it away free!

Ironbound would be a contender if it was 2009. Pure awesomeness.

I listened to The Ones I condemn and definitely don't get the hype so far. I'll give it another shot because I trust you guys.

1 - Hordes of Chaos
2 - Endgame
3 - World Painted Blood

Why not listen to all of them? Wouldn't it be boring if every thrash band would sound like Exodus (like Sacrifice does)? :P

Hah, bullshit. The Ones I Condemn is better than Atrocity in every way, Exodus does not have that Death Metal touch to them.

Kathy, give it some spins, and it'll sink in.

Yes it's better than the AE, and it's better than the last Destruction, but it still sounds like a mix of them.

But it grows, and really is a contender for the Top 5. Whereas...Slayer is a little bit more faster, Megadeth is more varied, Warbringer is more brutal, Kreator is more old school... it's a tough fight.

Haven't listened properly to that Warbringer, but I have to disagree that the new Kreator is more old school, more modern and melodic in my opinion at least. Slayer's new one is pretty shitty imo, so I won't even include that one, but the new Megadeth is pretty cool.
