Do yourself a favour and check out Sacrifice. It is much more then just another thrash album. It's got doom moments, death metal moments, as I said much more then just another thrash album. I may be so bold and call it the best modern thrash album available.

In no particular order

At War - Infidel
Kreator - Hordes of Chaos
Defiance - The Prophecy
Artillery - When Death Comes
Megadeth - Endgame

I guess I'll replace Sacrifice - The Ones I Condemns with Defiance or Megadeth after a couple of more listens.

Megadeth - Endgame
Voivod - Infini
Believer - Gabriel
Rumpelstiltskin Grinder - Living For Death, Destroying The Rest
Warbringer - Waking Into Nightmares

There, betcha thought I wouldn't manage to think of five Thrash albums from this year, eh?

1. Sacrifice - The Ones I Condemn
2. Kreator - Hordes of Chaos

The only two thrash albums I've listened to this year.

Rumpelstiltskin Grinder is my number one beyond that it's a crapshoot.

I haven't really kept up with the new thrash releases, save the new Warbringer and Hordes of Chaos which was a huge letdown..
Its kind of hard to listen to the newer releases especially in thrash when you seem to always be stuck in the "older is better" mentality..
That isnt to say they aren't any good.

for those who have not heard the new Sacrifice, I strongly advise you all to do so. It is by far the best of the year, and quite possibly the best of the last 9 years if not longer.

I also heard the new Whiplash, pretty good stuff. But I wouldn't call it 100% thrash, more like thrashy/speedy heavy metal.

Megadeth is not thrash metal. Not lookin to start a flame war. Just thought I'd mention it again. Cuz its not thrash...never has been, especially isnt now.

Good to see some Sacrifice love up in this thread (although I'm still sad I had to miss the gig last weekend  Oh well, Piledriver this weekend! :dio: ). But honestly, did anyone else find themselves a little...well... repulsed by Rob's vocals on this one? The music was good, don't get me wrong, but his vocal style seems to have changed toward the somewhat metalcore-ish and it annoys the hell out of me. Not as thrashy/gritty as it used to be.

I also second Nocturnal :dio: Also Bulldozer's Unexpected Fate. I know I voted for them in the bm thread, but this new album was much more on the thrash side of the line of things so I figure I can get away with voting for them in both. As for the rest, I'll have to give it some thought.

I think the reason why Robs vocals are different is mostly due to his age, but I like them. Sure his vocals 20 years ago were better, and some of the best in the thrash world, but his vocals now are cool and fit the meaty more modern production sound of Sacrifice in 2009.

I also missed Sacrifice on saturday, which made me sad. I was at Casino Rama getting rather drunk and watching boxing, I didn't find out about the Sacrifice show until sunday evening.
