A bit of a warning, this may turn out to be a bit of lame and pointless topic, but who knows, could be interesting.

Lately I've been thinking about certain 80's thrash releases that incorporate little popular melodies or ditties in their songs. Some examples of what I mean can be found in songs like Destruction's Mad Butcher and Bathory's Pace till Death. I found it kind of amusing and also kind of interesting that these guys did this, and have been trying to think of some other thrash or black/thrash bands during the 80's who did this as well, since I'm sure I've heard more that I can't quite call to mind right now, but it just doesn't seem to have registered until now.

It also made me think how much of 80's popular culture, largely from horror films but still, thrash (and death and black metal as well to a lesser degree) acts incorporated into their music compared to today. It seems to largely be an 80s phenomenon for some reason.

Anyways, just thought I'd throw that out there.

I think Coroner use Dies Irae's melody somewhere in Totentanz. Not really popular but yeah.

Oh man, love that part. I didn't think of it until I saw your post. Coming to think of it, yeah, it does sound like the Knight Rider theme.

Bonded By Blood played the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme when I saw them. Now that was awesome.
