Any good? Friend of mine is crazy about them and has me listening to Storm Of The Light's Bane (instead of the Refused I'm trying to get into -.-). Any suggestions, things to look out for, etc?

Yeah, very good. First two albums, anyways, ignore the third. You'll enjoy the music more if you do a little reading on the frontman.

Reinkaos is my favourite. It's totally different to Somberlain or Storm of the... , but if you like In Flames, then it could be something for you. :)

Reinkaos is a solid album with some stellar tracks, don't listen to what anyone says about it being bad.

Has an epic feel like you're about to go into battle with the way the drums are.

Dissection are one of the best Swedish death metal bands, check out Storm of the lights bane; you won't be disappointed.
They create atmosphere like no other bands from that time were able to..

Listening to Storm Of The Light's Bane right now. Pretty good, even though it's all in E minor  Where Dead Angel's Lie is a badass song.

even though my girl always complains about the prodution on the album, I honestly think that it helped in part of creating that very thin guitar tone that they had. I think the best word to describe it would be "cold", I'm not a musician so I don't know the terminology for it but thats how I remember the album that and the fact Nodveit's vocals are really screechy. A lot of terrible ambient black metal bands would improve if they truly listened to that album and took the production keys from it.

Ok, Reinkaos is not the black metal epic like Storm of the Lights Bane, but it is IMHO very good melodic death metal.

Why should that make any difference? If anything wouldn't that want make you want to like it less?

Storm Of The Light's Bane is a classic metal album.

I didn't like Reinkaos at first but it grew on me. Can't beat the first two albums though. For some reason I think the production of the drums on 'Storm' was what made it such an epic album. Like some hymns sung in a cave. Haha!

Nothing wrong with it per se, it's just that a whole album of it can get boring.

But for (music) theory illiterate people like me, it isn't boring :P
