For the bands in your area thing:

1. Razor
2. Sacrifice
3. Slaughter
4. Annihilator
5. Piledriver

Slaughter, Sacrifice, and Piledriver all formed less then 45 minutes away from me. Razor is about an hour away. And Anni formed in Queerbec, so that's just a few hours away.

If you love old school thrash and heavy metal done right, then eastern Ontario wins.

Eluveitie are "interesting" in the sense that they jam two types of music together and see if ti works. It doesn't, but credit to them, they keep on doing it anyway. :P

Motorhead are also interesting, and they don't even need the quotation marks: they take the good time rock n roll feel that is the basis for all rock and metal ultimately, and just push it and push it to its logical conclusion: distilled awesomeness.

Come on, Motorhead have been writing the same album for 30 years. I'm all for fun in music, but damn, it just gets boring.

Yeah, I edited it and added Canada later from reading all these post, I had forgotten about Canada that they too have a long history. Hmmm...I really love Swedish Metal, the early 90's Death Metal Movement was really happening.

Morbid Angel, Unleashed and Entombed came to Chicago in 1990, I was tripping on LSD and Unleashed freaked me out by holding a horn full of unholy water throwing it all over the audience. I had a bad trip. The pit was going around like unleashed roaring lions.

I dunno about boring but I can't say I'm going to jump at the chance to spin a Motorhead album.

It's from a German movie called the Invincible, he plays a character of Hersche Steinschneider, the film is set in 1932 prior to the Nazis coming to power Germany.

If the nut mentioned ten canadian bands you will most likely not even have heard of them. Dark Angel isn't the only thrash band around you know.

I am aware of this as I am not well acquainted with obscure Canadian thrash, when I made this point I was thinking of the more tech deathish bands.
