SABBAT from the UK. Great Band.
Image
I just recently discovered NWOBH, I never looked into the abbrevation. Example, the band Sabbat, Venom, Maiden, Priest, Motorhead, etc. I never knew they were from the UK until now. Who came first? Canada, UK or US?

Call me a late bloomer, I've been listening to metal for 28 years but just recently discovered NWOBH, I never looked into the abbrevation. Example, the band Sabbat, Venom, Maiden, Priest, Motorhead, etc. I never knew they were from the UK until now.

So the question is, Is the British more "deep" into their metal than U.S.? Call it a dumb question but educate me.

Don't have much to say about UK vs. US, but I saw Sabbat at
HoleInTheSky in 2007 and they were absolutely horrible. Top 5
worst concerts I have ever seen.

Lemme see. My fav bands, Iron Maiden, Sinister, God Dethroned, Carcass, Black Sabbath( with Tony Martin) are all European, Maiden, Sabbath and Carcass being from the UK. Just one of my fav bands, Immolation is from the US. So, UK wins. Even otherwise, most bands which I like turn out to be from Europe. I would say European rather than specifically British metal is more appealing.

Let's see... America has Dream Theater, Arsis, Death, Converge, Neurosis, Nevermore, Mastodon, Between The Buried And Me, Mr. Bungle... and a lot more too.

I'd say US.

US vs UK is kinda dumb, but US vs Europe is already a lot more interesting.

I'd probably go with Europe.

How about we can each choose five bands from our own geographical regions of origin and see who wins?

I am from the Midlands, so I will say-

1. Black Sabbath
2. Judas Priest
3. Motorhead (Lemmy is from Stoke-on-Trent)
4. Napalm Death
5. Cathedral

:P

Cathedral, hits the senses of your imagination. Euphoric, Trippy, best music to be on shrooms. Great!

Celtic Frost and Coroner are tought to beat... they can pair off against Sabbath and JP. Leaving Motorhead, ND and Cathedral to face off against Eluveitie, Darkspace and Samael. I know who my money would be on there :P

Metal is literally the only thing the Midlands has to be proud of.

Motörhead: repetitive bues-metal. Eluveitie wins with their melodeath/folk hybrid. Much more interesting, and historical importance doesn't count. Gneh.
ND: Ok, they beat Samael.
Cathedral: Good, but against the brilliance of Darkspace's mathematical black metal? Nah. Not even this website agrees with you.

Hang on the site has about 9 Cathedral reviews, all but two of which have higher scores than the one given to the only Darkspace review?

Darkspace are kvlt O.O

Come on, you know I'm pushing your buttons. Although at the core Eluveitie are probably more interesting than Motörhead, no? I-IV-V does get boring.

It appears we must fight.

Eluveitie are "interesting" in the sense that they jam two types of music together and see if ti works. It doesn't, but credit to them, they keep on doing it anyway. :P

Motorhead are also interesting, and they don't even need the quotation marks: they take the good time rock n roll feel that is the basis for all rock and metal ultimately, and just push it and push it to its logical conclusion: distilled awesomeness.
