What is your impression of the album thus far if any of you have heard the songs that have been out (Hate worldwide, Psychopathy red)? I read on Wikipedia that this is the first of the last three Slayer albums; Do you think their break up is worth merit given their past career?
Or do you think their breakup is long overdo?

The first of their last 3? So, they deciding to quit? It will be sad to see this band go, but I guess it is about time they do. Just hope they quit on a high. GHUA while not vintage Slayer was good. I liked it. But, Christ Illusion was a disappointment. The Satanic lyrics sound laughable and Tom reallly didn't seem to be much into it. The songs are fast and that's about it. I really enjoyed Slayer's solos until Divine Intervention after which they just seemed to be there with no appeal. The band seems to be losing its touch. I will try before I buy their new album. Haven't listened to the new tracks though.

Christ Illusion was a really good album, I thought. I only heard about one track of GHUA but on that very limited basis I'd say CI was a big step up again.

Liked the one or two cuts off WPB that I heard, but damn, that is a goofy album title.

Yeah. The title is goofy. Maybe something like Painted In Blood would be better

or maybe something slightly nostalgic like Reign in painted blood.

Bloody Paint? I like the new songs, the more Slayer the better. If every band broke up when they stopped being perfect then music'd be in a pretty shitty state.

Asking for perfection is one thing...but is it so much to ask for bands not to put out shit? Seems Anthrax could have benefited from that advice.

The most recent one, the title track (up now on their myspace) is totally awesome. The other two grew on me as well. Expecting a killer album.

Listening to the newest song now. Great stuff, practically prog for Slayer, really looking forwards to the new album.

new song is pretty good, might listen to the album a couple times.

I've heard some of it....and honestly it just doesnt stack up to the classic material in any way. DOesnt even come close. It's a shame....at least Sadus is still good.

Araya's vocals are weaker now. They don't sound evil anymore.

Do people really still listen to Slayer?

I think people want to listen to good music, and slayer occasionally produces a decent track nowadays.

Psycopathy Red = 2 minute thrash attack done by modern Slayer

Hate Worldwide = weird semi-thrash song that is just plain weird, I can dig it on 1 listen and hate it the next. Very weird song.

Find it man, it's the title track, and it's the best one so far I think.

It has the most classic slayer-ish sounding parts out of any of the songs so far.
