In my mind this is a classic black metal album, who else has heard this album?

It's a pretty decent album, has an odd quality that sets it apart from others in the genre.
Haven't listened to it in a while, though.

wow, that's one audible bass! :D

Not that I would want a perfect crisp production on something like this, but if it was a bit more level it would be nice.

Damn good track though!

.:crast:.

yeah I can see how one would say the production is sketchy, but once you get used to it, it kills.

Which was out two years earlier. So this Kvist is hardly groundbreaking, even if what you say is true (it isn't).

in the nightside eclipse is the most overrated black metal album imo.

still groundbreaking and a classic, but i would rather listen to this than any of the emperor albums.

emperor's productions have always sucked, the vocals on ITNSE are wack and yeah, just an overrated band in general, still really good but not gods of the earth.

Meh, Ihsahn's vocals are better on ITNE than they are on later albums. Definitely an acquired taste, but great when you're with it. Emperor are hella not overrated though, whether kvlter bands exist or no.

Ihsahn's vocals have never been my cup of tea on any of the albums, they're good, but they're missing something. ITNE is a great album, I just feel that to many people put it as the greatest black album, when it's just not. I couldn't care less how popular a band is or how underground a band is, I listen to plenty of music outside the metal realm and enjoy it as much as some metal. The key's on Kvist's album are what stood out to me as well as the great riffs, the key's aren't overbearing or cheesy at all and simply enhance the music to it's full potential. The vocals are great to, but could be a little more over the top, they sound a little quiet.

np: mayhem- slaughter of dreams
