KIMBABIG is awesome. How can a thrash metal song be "too wild"?
It sounds paradox (esp. because I'm a big Warbringer fan) but the songs on KIMB are IMO just not good and catchy enough. Best song for me was always These Boots... but there was no Hangar 18, no Black Friday, no Peace Sells, no Devils Island, no Wake up Dead, no Conjuring...

WTF what about Chosen Ones. And Loved To Deth. And Killing Is My Business. And The Skull Beneath The Skin.

You suck.

Chosen Ones is actually not even a thrash song. :D  It's too jazz like swing or so. I like e.g. "The skull beneath the skin" more.

Ok, sure some songs are good (it's still Megadeth) and KIBM is not a bad album, but in all the Megadeth discography it was for me not one of the best.

On the other side, other people might think that Youthanasia was Megadeths best record. Everybody has a different taste.

If Dave would rerecord KIMB completely with the sound of Endgame...maybe it would be a different and better album. But the original sound just sucks.

Rattlehead and the title track are two of the 'Deth's catchiest songs. I'm not even going to add "IMO".

Maybe it's just the production which doesn't let me get it. The guitar sound is too blurry and Daves singing is a little bit too weak.

If you mean this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8M_-3RjzdQ then yes. You could click the fingers like on this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKAbinFY ... re=related (NOT METAL WARNING)

Chosen ones is a funny song, but the real deal came IMHO just an album later http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vM1pW9y ... re=related .

Megadeth had always a little "not metal" influence. Just listen to "Looking down the cross". And to say that only KIMB was thrash and the followers not, is just stupid, because they were never (until Countdown) so far away from thrash like on some parts from KIMB. And please stop starting a war because of the discussion how KIMB ranks in Megadeths history...

Sorry, but Killing is my Business is the thrashiest Megadeth album. Followed by Peace Sells. After that there's not a whole lot of thrash in the music. Stop being Mega-pussies and get over it.

I don't think so. KIMB is not more or less thrash than Peace Sells or So Far So Good So What or Rust in Peace. It has also a lot of classic speed metal.

Just want to chime in and say that KiMB is fucking awesome. You just can't beat the pure youthful aggression on that album. In fact, Dave's never been able to match it since. Sure, he's made some classic albums along the way, but KiMB was primal and carefree Megadeth, and I love it.

Sometimes I think what the hell some people smoke (or drink, or eat, or inject, or whatever).

You have just to put the thrash-metal blinkers down, and then you'll realize, that early megadeth had lot's of non metal influence. Take Chosen Ones and put away the electric guitars, imagine Dave Mustain in a suit and a black and white picture... :P

This discussion has prompted me to pull out my old megadeth albums and give em a listen. I have come to the conclusion that Megadeth has never released a thrash metal album. The closest is Killing is My Business, and that's barely thrash metal. This notion that they are a thrash metal band is ludicrous. They are either a fast heavy metal band, or a speed metal band. Not thrash. They never play thrash beats, the riffs don't sound like typical thrash metal riffs (like Exodus, Heathen, or Kreator play)....so stop referring to Megadeth as a thrash metal band. I also think its stupid to refer to Metallica as thrash metal, because they, like Megadeth, are not thrash metal.

But that's also stupid, because there are many many thrash riffs in songs like Wake Up Dead, Devil's Island, Set the World Afire, Holy Wars, Peace Sells, The Conjuring, Headcrusher, Sleepwalker, Blackmail the Universe, This Day We Fight, How the Story Ends, Bodies, Gears of War, Endgame, 1,320, Fight Fire with Fire, Whiplash, Seek and Destroy, Ride the Lightning, Escape, Creeping Death, Master of Puppets, Leper Messiah, Battery, Dispossable Heroes, Metal Militia, Trapped under Ice, Dyers Eve, My Apocalypse, That was just your Life, The Judas Kiss...

:)

PS.: Yes it is a little bit different to Exodus or Kreator, but what about Anthrax? Annihilator? Testament? That there are different styles of thrash is IMO not so bad, because it would be boring if every thrash band would sound like Exodus...
