Being a Swiss citizen I will in fact partake in the obligatory military service my country has. Not that I'm happy about it, but whatever. Since the Vatican Guard is part of the Swiss Army, I can use the 1st person plural.

Various elements. A year ago, his son was arrested in Switzerland for beating, imprisoning and abusing his housekeeper. Then, a little while ago, Gheddafi took two Swiss people hostage (don't know the details, if they were soldiers, tourists, whatever). As a result, President Merz apologized to Gheddafi and his son was released. The hostages aren't back yet. Then, a few days ago, for the second time, Gheddafi proposed to the UN to dismantle Switzerland (give the Italian speaking part to Italy, German speaking part to Germany, etc). Needless to say, the UN told him to fuck off, but we're pretty pissed.

Anyone been following the case against the two Norwegian's in Congo? They just got their death sentence for supposedly murder, armed robbery, establishment of criminal organisations and spying on the behalf of the Norwegian government because they wore ID from the army.

I call bullshit on the whole thing, as the proofs are so damn thin it's not even funny. I don't expect that they're entirely clean, but the way the Congolesian court have been proceeding with this case is shameful and ignorant. It seems more to me like a matter of race and money as they demanded about 500 billion dollars of the Norwegian government to release them. The witnesses are seemingly false as they didn't have to swear any oaths, there were barely any translation opportunities, and pointless pictures were used as evidence.

I remember reading something about it... they (supposedly) killed their driver and then took pictures mugging whilst cleaning up the blood? Does seem a bit much if that's the only proof...
