The God Seed album will still apparently be out, and he's still going to be involved in Wardruna and Trelldom. He also paints.

Not exactly what I would call animosity, and I don't see how the comments were any more unfounded than most others in this thread. With all the school girl drama Gaahl caused just because he couldn't suck up his pride and recognise what wasn't his for the taking, its better off that he retired.

I always got the impression that this guy was a dick. But he definitely was among the best BM vocalists.

What I don't get when a few people say this is that Gaahl's approach to Gorgoroth's music was different from Infernus's...so which approach have you "never liked"...or both? And if so, you still won't be liking Gorgoroth's approach to bm anyways. Its not like the band has ceased to exist and that Infernus has never written material for Gorgoroth before. *scratches head* Gaahl leaving metal has no real impact on Gorogorth other than leaving Infernus in peace to continue to do what he was doing before. Clarification?

If your asking me then its both. I just have never been able to get into Gorgoroth. On top of that Gaahl comes off as a complete fake. It seems like its all about the image and not the music with him. Not to mention....he tries to make everyone think he is this super evil badass that can live in isolation his whole life and not be phased, and then it turns out hes gay. lol?

I don't see why Gaahl's previous image as the fellow who beats people up and threatens to drink their blood should be tarnished just because he's gay. He has gotten a fair bit of exposure recently, but there's still something genuinely unnerving about his stage presence and those eyes staring out at you from the corpsepaint... Criticism of him over this whole Gorgoroth seems a bit OTT to me, considering it was King Ov Hell who tried to "steal" the band, no? People like to bring down the mighty, especially in Black Metal circles, and whilst I thought Gaahl was a bit overrated at the height of his adoration, I don't think he's the sellout bitch that people try and portray him as now. I'd be curious to see a list of Black Metal day jobs; the drop in respect for the musicians involved would probably be tremendous, which is why it'll never happen.

I'm thinking not. I'm even more impressed by Lord Worm being an ESL teacher and Scott Hull working for the Dept. of Defense or whatever. Mind you that I doubt all jobs are as respectable as those you have to respect musicians who have a job on the side and still have enough time, and even more so persistence and patience, to put into their music.

Hellhammer was a night guard at some factory or something, if my memory serves me right.
