Yeah... See... Stuff like Glass Casket is what I'm talking about, or the aforementioned Through the Eyes of the Dead. iwrestledabearonce isn't really what I'd consider deathcore.

Veil of Maya remind me of old As I Lay Dying, I'd consider that more metalcore. I guess it had some moments though, I'll check them out too.

Legacy, didn't care for Born of Osiris or whatever, but thank you.

Steve, I have Malice. Bloodlust is way better.

And The Black Dahlia Murder, deathcore? They're straight melodic death metal. At least IMO.

Thanks for the suggestions, did sorta like Glass Casket, gonna try a CD.

I didn't really care for BoO at first, but I listened to it more and it just amazed me how many musical ideas and creative, melodic, and epic moments they can fit into songs that don't even pass the 3 minute mark. It's probably not for everyone, but it's the best Deathcore I've heard so far.

whitechapel have gone slightly more death metal now if anyone wanted to listen to their newer material. My friend introduced me to this band that are pretty brutal and even have some melodic death influences called Whisteria Cottage

Whitechapel has some good songs, Job for a cowboy's new album is surprisingly death metal so I guess they don't fit into this genre any more but the album itsself is good.

Through the eyes of the dead is the only band in the genre that I've consistently listened to and loved. Great band.

And come on Black Dahlia aren't deathcore!

They have the core and the death elements though.

I don't hear any " core " elements... I mean that's like saying Dimension Zero is deathcore.

You obviously know very little about core.

The only band from this genre I'd say I really like is Ion Dissonance - there are more interesting parts than crappy breakdowns, anyway.

Yup, Love em. I wouldn't really categorize them as deathcore though...

CHUGGA CHUGGA CHUGGA... CHUGGA CHUGGA CHUGGA

ENDLESS CHUGGA

WE NEED THREE GUITARISTS TUNED TO DROP H FLAT FOR ALL THIS CHUGGA

I hate that style of Deathcore.

Veil Of Maya is probably the only band people need to concern themselves with in this genre.

I like when you mention three guitarists explicitly, and I'm like "holy shit he means Whitechapel". I think Veil of Maya is one of the weaker bands of the style, you just have to know where to look is all. With Passion, Conducting from the grave, The Red Queen effect, and Born of Osiris, all do that polyrhythmic thing better then Veil of Maya.

Never heard of With Passion or The Red Queen Effect... Born Of Osiris is cool. Conducting From The Grave is very meh. Not sure what you mean by "that polyrhythmic thing," but if you mean breakdowns, then no.

I like Veil Of Maya because they're probably the most creative of the whole Deathcore crop, especially on their new album, and they also have the best guitar playing. [id] gets pretty cerebral at times, and I've said before that "It's Not Safe To Swim Today" is the best Deathcore song out there, but that spot might be overtaken by "Codex" in time.

I'm not entirely sure... But they're definately not deathcore
