Is it not a bit of a blanket statement saying all "retro" bands suck? And then calling us losers for liking/discussing them? I guess if I enjoyed your band, which from what I have heard I do like, then I am a loser to.

I can't help but get offended almost every time you post something.

Retro bands can be cool. I don't see anything wrong with trying to emulate and contribute to an older style. Don't judge shit based on its image yo

There was a hint of sarcasm in the thread. Looks like I pulled a Walnut. And I did not that note all bands like that suck. Good example of an a retro band that doesnt suck: Helvetets Port. Good fun old school rockin heavy metal. They are fashion boys and do try as hard as possible to look and sound like they are from the 80's...making them extremely retro, and the only way to be retro by my definition, but they do it well and the cheese isnt completely lost on me. The new thrash metal bands however.....for the most part are completely generic and ingenuine.

Emulation sucks balls

Look at a band like Wolfmother, they rip off 70's rock so bad they sound like they are just riffstealing bastards.

Contributing to an older style is a different matter altogether though.

I like how everytime I disagree with you, you have to put me down as if I am not worthy.

That song is weak I agree. But the EP is great. And if you disagree....well listen to Mantic Ritual then.....I care not.

Hey! Those looking for Bay Area type thrash should check the brits of Pitiful Reign's Visual Violence (2008). Sounds like a mix of Forbidden and Vio-lence. Plus it has a cool artwork by Repka! :dio:

I think I've found my new fav' retro-thrash act! :D

Seriously?

Pitiful Reign is, well, pitiful. Very boring IMO. I could name several newer bands that are much less boring. But I am not going to waste my time.

What's not to like? Good riffs, good leads, a tribute to the finest thrash ever (that's from the Bay Area in case you were wondering). No, this shows lots of promises.

Pitiful Reign is not monotonous, at least for the Bay Area thrash lovers it isn't. Sure, the vocals may need a little improvment and that's the only downpoint I can find on a very nice first album (not counting the self-produced 2006 album they recorded when they still were a three piece).
Maybe you just don't like that kind of thrash metal DW...

We obviously disagree on this band, let's leave it here.
