Certainly not dreadful, but this band is so overrated it hurts.

I guess there will always be the haters, but I would say that anyone who considers this band unworthy of at least SOME of the praise they've gotten from the metal community should pull their head out of their ass or find a different genre to pollute with their misguided bullshit

I see no reason not to call this Progressive Rock.

And shut up, those who rag on C&C, this album is all sorts of brilliant, man.

And, by the way, I'm sure checking a band out for you is downloading their album (I know you're going to deny it) so, hold your horses, it ain't that bad.

Wouldn't that result in you having the album, which in turn would allow you to check out the band? What's your point?

He was just trying to say I shouldn't complain because I didn't pay for the album.

But I did pay for the album, as I explained.

Which means you don't understand what progressive rock is.
I like C&C and they have prog elements (and also emo, pop, metal) but they are not a progressive rock band.

That's what's cool about Prog Rock my brother, it's different things to different people and all, like the mirror of Galadriel and shit.

No, it's not. It's just that most people put the progressive rock tag everything something is seemingly different.

I think C&C is one of these cases in which the tag is really "with progressive influences" than "progressive".

But it's not Pop-rock. I don't see the pop.

There is a little pop but that doesn't make them a pop rock band.

So, if we dislike this, we dislike the entire genre? Haters? All I said was that it is overrated. They're good, but they're not fucking godly.

Sure, C&C isn't a progressive rock band through and through, but the progressive influence is still there and cannot be denied. Would you rather I had labeled the genre as "Rock"?

As long as there's a decent amount of Prog in there I don't see the problem in calling it Prog Rock. Reading the review will let you know it's not King Crimson, anyways.

I just don't see why everyone is so against calling it prog rock. I mean, newer C&C is hardly progressive at all, and a lot of the songs on In Keeping Secrets are more alternative/pop punk, but did these people not even LISTEN to The Crowing or 21:13?

No, that's not what I said, nor was I referring to a specific person. All I'm saying is I don't see how ANYONE can justify insulting a band like C&C (or its fans) just because they don't like their music (and yes, I have heard a lot of this from metalheads especially). I have no problem if people want to discuss what is good or bad about a band, but just going off and telling fans of a band (especially one that clearly has at least some real talent) that they are terrible? That is not helpful to the metal community in any way.

Heh, indeed. If you'd have called it "Progressive-tinged Rock/Alternative/Pop/Punk" then they'd have been whining about why you didn't just call it "Prog Rock", no pleasing some people. Just because I call an album I reviewed "Melodic Death Metal" doesn't mean that it sounds like Soilwork, for example.

Incidentally, I have no problem with Prog Archives. Like every music site ever there'll be something that annoys the purists, but it's a pretty awesome site all in all.

I've heard all the C&C albums except for No World... and I hate them all except for Good Apollo, there are too many poppy/emo moments. But Good Apollo rules, can anyone here actually say they heard Welcome Home and they hate it?

Oh fuck, here comes the "Coheed & Cambria isn't emo" argument...
