(Early) Sodom, Kreator, Destuction, Slayer could also fit. They all came from Venom and Hellhammer Influence, but putted more thrash into it.

And one of the best Old School Black Thrash albums isn't that old:

Sodom - The Final Sign of Evil

e.g. Blasphemer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buy9I-nVGYo

I guess early Sodom fits. As long as you don't bring up Slayer as black metal again :)

No it doesn't. Not by modern criteria anyway.

What is Black Thrash? Black Thrash is Thrash Metal with satanic lyrics and harsh vocals. So what's the big difference between something like Obsessed by Cruelty, Black Thrash Attack and Show No Mercy or Hell Awaits?

Sodom and Slayer were both trying to bring the Venom and Hellhammer sound to a new level of extreme. And bands like Aura Noir or Desaster are just the follower of the early Sodom, Kreator, Destruction - and Slayer. Or is there a really big difference between this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iI0iT1vBc0k and this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCodSrCl ... re=related ? It's both essentially Thrash Metal with harsh (mostly) satanic vocals.

No.
Black Thrash is Thrash Metal that bears the influence of the second wave (aka Norwegian) of Black Metal.
By your stupid standards, even Metallica can, at times, be labeled Black Thrash.

Who said it had to be modern? There are certainly very audible black metal influences in early Sodom. So you're wrong.

Venom/Hellhammer/Bathory doesn't even sound BM by modern criteria so, okay, nobody said it had to be modern but I honestly thought it was implied.
If it just satanic lyrics, well, about every thrash band had it... Which makes this whole thread kinda pointless.

No they can't because Metallica never used upside down crosses, pentagrams and satanic lyrics.

And you are wrong. Black Thrash was there long before the second norwegian wave, because the second wave had the black thrash from sodom, kreator, destruction (and sure Slayer) as their main influence. Fenriz from Darkthrone said, that when he saw Slayer Live with Hell Awaits, it was his way to the dark side (figuratively).

Just compare the cover from Desaster http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wh-HciEZaQ with the original from Kreator http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBTgBkQqeOE . There is no fucking evil difference.

Or take this from sodom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KoIxBvUZKE . THAT was Black (Thrash) Metal.

Or this from Destruction http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDI2jfNiOOM

Or this from Slayer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKpjCkkVjN0

While I agree with you that it may seem pointless judging from only the lyrics, I think Sodom has a pretty distinct touch of the early black metal sound to them. Their early releases are generally labeled black/thrash metal, which is something I tend to agree with. I do however not agree with the warrior on Slayer being black metal only because of the lyrics.

All you're proving with that display is that thrash rules and BM just copied it which makes this thread even more pointless.
Thank you.

Not really, because especially Sodom changed their Style completely on Agent Orange, which was pure Thrash. And Slayer too. Reign in Blood was totally different compared to Hell Awaits and Show No Mercy (despite some evil lyrics, which can still find on their records till today).

Not only the lyrics, but their early style with pentagrams, upside down crosses and an evil atmospheric sound, which was gone on RIB. But Hell Awaits still had that evil "hall" effect, that bands like Darkthrone and Mayhem used excessively. I mean, what's with Venom? They made the genre black metal and how dit they sound? Compared to slayer or sodom, they sounded very "normal".

According to Cronos from Venom, they invented Black Metal, Thrash Metal, Power Metal and other extreme styles all alone by themselves. :D

"Black/Thrash" doesn't have a specific definition... It's just a term made up to mean thrash with blackened elements. So sure, why not Sodom and Destruction? I wouldn't say Slayer though.

Why not? Not evil enough? ;) "Evil has no Boundaries!" Ok, on the other side, musically, they have much influence in the Death Metal genre, because, many old songs aren't even thrash but technically DM (dispite of the somewhat clean lyrics).
