I wasn't attempting to cast Janick in a particularly negative light. The only thing I will say is that he does not play at the same level of Adrian or Dave. His overall technique is very sloppy. That's just my opinion as a guitarist observing and listening to Janick's style.

DOD is a very strong Maiden release. :D

Yes. Dance Of Death is a VERY strong release... I can't believe how underrated this album is. Everything you could expect from Maiden is found on it. Catchy up-tempos, epic length-tracks and everything in between. Heck, there's even a beautiful sort of ballad ending the album! I'd say it's a bit different. Somewhat darker than BNW and... tell me that "Rainmaker", "Montsegur", "Dance Of Death" or "Paschendale" aren't killer songs.

About the Janick thing:
I'd say that he's probably not my favourite Maiden guitarist but he writes terrific songs.

I will say he has added a new dynamic to the band. There's no question about that. The creative forces of the entire band seem to work very well together but when Maiden had to rely squarely on Harris and Gers the end product was not as strong as what the current line-up offers.

+1. And DoD bores me, as NPFTD, XI, FOTD (except FOTD the song) & X. I really almost never listen to any of these records, excepting FOTD the song.

Paschendale is a killer song; Dance of Death and Montsegur are good songs; Rainmaker and the acoustic ballad are ok; the rest is sub par: conclusion, not a very good album, and imo Maiden's worst.

I really like it too. :D The live version on Death On The Road is even better IMO.

What!? Dance Of Death and Paschendale are awesome epic tracks. They are varied, there are killer solos, harmonies and the lyrics are some of the best Maiden has written. It's like you can sense what's going on around the "near-death experience" of the man in "Dance Of Death" It's like you can feel the pain of those men at that battle in "Paschendale"...

Don't bother arguing or even talking to Holy_Terror.

It's pointless.

True that.
Unless you wanna discuss teh obscure NWOBHM acts, there's nothing to gain in addressing him.

Soooo he's that kind of guy who doesn't respect other people's opinions and finds it pointless to argue because he thinks he's right on every occasion, and when people disagree with him he says something like "fuck you" or something? :omfg:

If so, shame on you H_T. :D
