Didn't know where to place this. Although these albums were anything but thrash, they were released by thrash bands. So figured I would put it in here. Just curious to know how you would rate the 3 in order of preference or which you think is the best/worst among the 3. Mine would be

1) Reload

2) Load

3) Risk

I listened to the Load twins after a few years and don't feel them that bad as I thought them to be earlier. In fact, I would give them a score around the 70s. I thought I would feel the same with Risk. But, no. It still seems just as average.

1 - Load
2 - Reload
3 - Risk

But I really don't listen to any of them, just forgotten in the middle of my cd collection (and my hard disk)

This, pretty much. I think Load is better than it's generally given credit for, though.

Load is an excellent album. Better than the Black Album.

Well, I don't think that, but I'd put Black in that list of albums I don't usually listen.

Honestly, if I have to listen to Metallica, give me Load. I really felt it was a more mature effort by the band, and I think it has some solid tracks that stand out on their discography.

I'd take Load over the rest of the choices. Re-Load in second. I think, and I know you'll all think I'm nuts, that they're 2 of their better efforts.

I just prefer to ignore Risk and pretend it doesn't exist.

My complaint with the load twins is more of the quality of the songs than with the musical direction the band took. With Risk, it's both. Metallica were able to pull off the change in musical direction much better than Megadeth. I feel that Risk was Dave's attempt to top Metallica and he failed miserably.

Load contains some of Metallica's finest songs.

I like the Load twins, but Load is a little bit better than Re-Load. 2 x 4, Ain't My Bitch, Wasting My Hate, Poor Twisted Me, The House that Jack Built, Bleeding Me, and Outlaw Torn are all great songs, and are some of Metallica's best work. Especially the Outlaw Torn, that's a high point of their career in my opinion. Re-Load is weaker but there's still a lot to like there. Prince Charming is awesome. But Risk, Risk just sucks. Wanderlust is OK, but, yeah, that's the only nice thing I can say about it.

You should consider "not being taken seriously" by a tool such as juannaman like a compliment.

I'm not a fan of the load-twins. Not at all, how is Risk in comparison? Haven't heard it.

If you ever find a copy of Risk I'd just get in a car, drive really fast, and throw the CD out the window. I think those results would be more entertaining than the disc itself.

Actually, I think there are only two wrong things with Risk:
1 - Mustaine's voice which doesn't quite fit the kind of melodic metal the band's was attempting to produce (though I consider this to be his best vocal performance).
2 - The name "Megadeth" on the cover.
Otherwise, it's not a bad album, you should at least try it to make your own opinion about it.

1. RISK
2. Reload
3. Load

1. because there were many good songs and even some thrash metal - and the rock was real rocking, while the loads were rocking like an old tractor
2. because Reload had the fresher songs (Fuel, Unforgiven II, Better than you, Attitude...), while
3. Load sounds as exciting as a cup of cold coffee...

And I can't understand why anybody likes Load more than Reload, because Reload was just better in any ways. And Risk sounds just fresh - compared to the Loads, which sounded very thick and boring. The production was very bad, and the songs even worse. Songs like Breadline, Ecstasy, Insomnia, I'll Be There or Prince of Darkness are just much better than everything of the Loads. It makes more fun to listen to them than to slow or midtempo boring crap like: The House Jack Built, Bleeding Me or Where the Wild things are.

PS.: I'm not judging this albums from the Thrash Metal point of view (from which they are all crap) but from the Hard Rock point of view, and from this, Risk rocks, the Loads not really (Ok, 2-3 Songs are very good, but the overall impression is just *zzz* ). If Metallica hat put the best and shortest songs on one album (the long ones are all sucking badly), then it could be a good one: Ain't my Bitch, 2 x4, Fuel, The Memory Remains, Unforgiven 2, Hero of the Day, Wasting my Hate, Better than you, Slither, Attitude and as one exception of the long songs: Devil's Dance.
