So no-one else is going to express their disgust at Steve listing Deathcore bands? Yes, they have breakdowns, lots of them. That doesn't make them good, ffs. And any list which features Walls Of Jericho that isn't a 'List Of Shitty Bands' or the like is simply wrong.

I personally like Through The Eyes of the Dead a bit. Particularly Bloodlust. Not huge on the genre as a whole, though.

I'm more into the metalcore bands and what have you, and some have great breakdowns. Unearth's The Oncoming Storm has some awesome ones, particularly during the song Endless.

I'm a big fan of breakdowns if done properly. That being said I generally do not enjoy hardcore bands like Converge as mentioned by a few of you guys... Not that they're bad, just not my kinda thing.

Never really cared for Obituary, they're alright.

I like how you included a comment about Obituary. Nice.

I felt rather proud of myself tacking that on the end there. I'll be honest.

Absolutely. Benighted rule.

And Frigid, Unearth definitely does have some really awesome breakdowns. I've been a fan for awhile now, they used to come here a lot during my highschool days to a local venue here when hardcore was a big scene in these parts.

They have a bunch of songs that really have a kick ass punch to the face once the breakdown starts. I mean... You always know it's coming... But I guess I like that.

I'd like to add from Arsis - The Face of My Innocence 0:35

and every single song of Heaven Shall Burn has one great breakdown. They are probably the only band in metalcore that never seem to get boring.

also every song by Misery Index probably has a breakdown or at least one part that makes you headbang.

I'm not too big a fan of Lamb Of God, but the breakdowns in "Ruin," "11th Hour," and "Black Label" are really really good.

Ahh ha ha ha! That makes sense then, I was trying to work out where there was any sort of "breakdown" bit in that song.

Yeah, generic guitar solos are so much better.

Pretty much everything thrash band has generic guitar solos yo. Can't criticize thrash breaks because they are indeed pretty awesome.

Aaaand I just woke up. :(
