Cannibal Corpse are fine and all but you only need like three of their albums to really know what all of them essentially sound like; this isn't necessarily a bad thing but I know I couldn't justify to myself buying another one.

I'd say that's about right - unless you're absolutely nuts about their sound of course, and play the shit out of their albums to the point that you're hungry for something new. The casual listener can probably make do three or four of their albums for their various sound-tweaking periods.

This applies to every death metal band I've heard. :\

I don't really like them at all, and wouldn't listen to them on my own time.

I don't know why they're so loved and recognized. Devoted following, I guess. I love death metal, but not the kind CC make.

I used to love Cannibal Corpse but I am usually looking for new stuff all the time. Even though bands like CC, Immolation and Suffocation release solid albums I find myself preferring bands like Ulcerate, The Monolith Deathcult and Akercocke when I need my death metal.

I'll be seeing these guys next monday with Behemoth/The Black Dahlia Murder/God Forbid ( Ew. ). I've yet to see CC live, so maybe they'll win me over with a live set. Who knows. Pretty excited about TBDM and Behemoth, even though I'm not huge on Behemoth.

Anyone have any good live experiences with CC? Or am I in for a shit show?

You mean Pet Detective 1, and that was pre-Corpsegrinder, so I doubt that would be much help.

I've not seen them, but I've never seen a bad review. Their last tour with Bodom apparently blew everyone away and made CoB look poor next to them.

You're going to be in for an awesome experience. I've not seen Behemoth, but their live DVD was ace, and Cannibal Corpse are monstrous live. They're tight, Fisher has great crowd interaction, and they play a little bit of everything. They may just make a believer out of you, I know they did my brother, who claimed to hate Death Metal before being pounded into submission by the mighty CC. Anyways, have fun.

Awesome. Glad to hear that I'll be in for a good show. I'm hoping to get a few minutes with Fisher and see if he's still a WoW geek.

God Forbid aren't THAT bad. At least you'll get a bit of melody thrown into the evening.

When I saw CC some crowd surfer got caught in the wiring on the ceiling and was hanging upside down in a mosh pit. It was quality.

Well. making CoB look poor live doesn't take much.
