This site should be renamed BlackMetalReviews.com. It is amazing how this reviewsite has changed from a mainly powermetal powered reviewsite to a site with no powermetal reviews and only blackmetal reviews. Too bad, I guess metalcdratings.com is now the only place to discover good new powermetal...

I've read the same thing 3/4 years ago...
It all depends on who are the most active posters/reviewers on the site in the past few weeks/months.
But, make no mistake, the wheel will turn and heavy/power metal will be back.

(obv. aimed at MetalMaster)

What a pathetic, bitchy post. Interesting how if you go back just one week then we had reviews of Alestorm, Cauldron, Faith Circus, Sons Of Seasons and Steel Panther, with only two Black Metal reviews. But why let the facts get in the way of a good whine, eh? Obviously some weeks more of one genre will get reviewed than another - people have been moaning about how 'waah you should rename it BlackMetalreviews/Powermetalreviews/experimentalmetalreviews' more or less since the site began.

The truly amazing thing is why your post isn't in the 'Promote Your...' section, because that's where it belongs. I'm sure everyone who cares about metalcdratings is well aware of its existence already; note how we're not sending street-teamers over to bitch about how there's only Power Metal at METALcdratings.

Just what I was thinking

Anyway, wise words, Goat and LS. It just depends on which reviewers have had time to review more albums during the week.

Dammit, you've exposed my mission to single-handed turn this site into altrockreviews.com. Oh wait, no you haven't. Dammit.

Forget I said anything!

That's the first thing I thought when I read his post. Its a lame argument that's been made many times in the past. Funny thing is, it wasn't too long ago people were bitching about the LACK of black metal reviews on this site.

Rest assured, as LS accurately pointed out, the pendulum will swing towards power metal again soon.

I'd like to add that if anyone has anything to moan about, it's the MR readership who enjoy Doom Metal above all else. Even when, say, me or Adam does do something Doom, it gets zero attention, they must all be timid souls afraid of the light. Bless.

And yes, no doubt Marty or someone will get the Power Metal boulder of destruction rolling down the hill towards the newborn baby of good music again soon. Fear ye not, metalCDratingists and gistesses.

I think there should be less focus on the newest metal bands, and more focus on "new" old bands that no one has heard of that are way better. Just a thought........

Calm down.. It all depends on the reviewers, the mood they're in, their situation etc. Out reviewers who mainly focus on power metal may be busy for all you know. TBH there is not that much new interesting power metal bands, and that may be some of the reason. I'll try and get some more prog reviews up though.

You're right to point out that there isn't much fanfare around these here parts for doom and gloom. However, I do appreciate when you guys showcase or mention anything that's related to the genre. I've slowly grown to really enjoy listening to this genre of metal, mainly because of the exposure to bands that I've learned about by reading these pages. MR is responsible for introducing me to bands like Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Draconian, November's Doom, Candlemass, Crematory, etc..

Now, I'm off to weep and moan because of the lack of attention that we doomers aren't receiving.

Checking my review list, I don't see a single bit of Doom on there. I will get some on posthaste! Although be forewarned, I do prefer the more extreme types of Doom to the relatively light gloom of Candlemass et al. Are you down with the Drone, sir?

I'm sure there's something up my sleeve. Keep reading, I always try and mix it up a little each week, although hopefully from now on the lightest thing you'll get from me is Alice In Chains.
