I like their covers, but having 3 versions for 3 major markets? That's a rip off. I could never understand this 'Japan Version' or 'US Version' shit. Why can't they just release something generic for every one to enjoy?

Isn't it something to do with how the Japanese get albums slightly later than everyone else, so they get bonus tracks etc to make up for it?

Is it? I never knew about it. But it's still quite unfair, I think. But looking at this (Bodom's) release, the Japanese version has lesser tracks than the European and American ones. I still think it's some marketing gimmick.

Yeah the explanation I've heard is that they get it later and it's more expensive.

Albums are so expensive in Japan that it's cheaper to buy imports. So to entice people to buy from their own market they give them bonus tracks and sometimes extended booklets written in Japanese. I'm presuming the tracklistings are different for each territory because a lot of these songs have already been released in these territories at different times.

Anyway Bodom's covers used to be fun. Not so much the later ones.

but seriously though its 70+ songs!, I mean i get sick of a band after 12 songs and these guys are willing to listen to 70! Not to mention they probably all suck.

70+ ? 18 I count, because Euro release has 17 & Ghost Riders In The Sky (STAN JONES) is the only in USA/Japan not in Euro list...

Another example of this is Opeth's The Candlelight Years collection, which I found in Italy, but surprisingly the booklet is all in Japanese.
