I'm doing my thesis about graphic design in Black Metal, and I would like to know the opinion of the forumites about the following topics, this to expand the visual archive of my work.

1. Artists with better/unique corpsepaint:

2. Most representative clothes, chains, spikes, etc

3. The most interesting logos:
(don't name Dso, that's simply the best)

4. Albums covers:

I'm not that into black metal but here's my two cents at least:

1. Gaahl (Gorgoroth/God Seed)
2. I want to go for spikes, but with later bands, pure pitch black clothing (Ihsahn, Taake) seems to be the fashion. Don't forget the viking/black bands that uses a lot of viking effects.
3. The bigger and more unreadable the better
4: erhm.. blank there.

Yes, Gaahl has one of the most interesting corpsepaints.


If you could post some pics that would be great.


Names please, for the second wave I would say Darkthrone, Ulver, Mayhem, maybe Marduk. Those are the most representative.

okay, I was a little off about Hoest, but he doesn't use the spikes at least.

Ghost Paint eh? They look like some asian vampires in a RPG called Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines. Thanks, I'll add them in my corpsepaint section.
