Call me crazy, but I think I may actually prefer Dickinson's solo material over his work with Iron Maiden. And that's saying something, since Maiden is one of my favorite bands. Admittedly, I've only heard his last three albums: Accident Of Birth, The Chemical Wedding, and Tyranny Of Souls (AOB and TCW I own). But they're three spectacular albums. So which Dickinson album is your favorite?

I have to go with Accident Of Birth. There are so many great songs on that album that it's hard to pick a clear favorite. But I'm going to have to go with Freak as my personal fave. I love that main riff, as well as Bruce's "Who leads you to the dark secret?" chorus. Dark Side Of Aquarius, Starchildren, The Magician, and Man Of Sorrows are also great songs.

Anyway, vote! And here's to hoping Dickinson will release another solo album in the near future.

I'll back you up on Accident At Birth. It is so damn catchy and full of fist pumping riffs. I haven't heard everything by Bruce (solo), but from what I have heard that one tops them all.

+1 Both albums are great, but I prefer Accident at Birth.

I have to go with The Chemical Wedding, but Accident Of Birth is close second. I still haven't heard Tyranny of Souls. How does it compare to those two?

Did anyone see the movie Chemical Wedding? It wasn't very good. Put me to sleep actually.

The one Dickinson wrote? No, is it out?

Yes, I think it came out last year but I saw it just recently.

BtP is a good album... my third favourite from him... But is just not at the level of AoB or TCW.

I like that, on Balls to Picasso, he tried to stay away from what made him famous. IMOH, Accident of Birth and all that followed it are, if quality records, just a commercial gesture.

What do you mean by that? Commercial gesture? In what way?

Anyway, Chemical Wedding easily gets my vote.

I thought he was a bit out of his element on "Balls To Picasso". I like the album, but "Accident Of Birth" and "The Chemical Wedding" are the crowining achievements. And why would you call it commercial gesture? "The Chemical Wedding" is a bit too complex to be called commercial. The stuff he did on that album is darker and heavier than Maiden has ever done... the same goes for "Tyranny Of Souls".

Fuck you Goat, I'm not.

@ Methul3X
Commercial gesture as doing what's expected of you after a failed attempt a renewing your style (aka Skunkworks, not a bad album by the way). Bruce played it safe which slightly disappointed me.

One thing's for sure, Tyranny of Souls is his worst.

Not for me... Tattooed Millionaire is his worst (Son of a gun, incredible song & Born In '58 are the only songs I can stand of that album).

But I agree that Balls to Picasso & Skunworks are better than Tyranny of souls.

Tyranny wasn't his worst, Tattooed Millionaire was.

Why's that for sure? The guitars are crisp and clear. Bruce sounds outstanding. And tracks like "Soul Intruders" and "Kill Devil Hill" are signature Dickinson/Roy Z compositions. "Abduction" is catchy as heck, "Soul Intruders" has a neckbreaking opening riff and a melodic chorus. "Kill Devil Hill" is a bit more epic and melodic, allowing Bruce to shine on the vocal front. "Navigate The Seas Of The Sun" is nice and mellow. Perfect track to catch your breath before your ears get assaulted by the rest of the album... What's not to like?
