what do you mean take a look at my own preferences? I like what i like and im going to be unapologetic for the bands I like. As I'm sure you are for the bands you like as well, judging by your post im going to assume i struck a nerve when i said 'shitty black metal bands'.
So im going to go out on a limb and say that most of the USBM I've heard from Imperial crystalline entombment to Leviathan and from there a lot more.

No, you did not strike a nerve... I listen a vast array of metal, so I could hardly be called an elitist. And if you paid any attention at all, you'd see that I listen to far more traditional metal / thrash these days than anything else.
What i get tired of is when someone has to say "shitty black metal bands" and "elitists" every other post he makes.. WTF is that shit?
Do you see anybody else doing that? Why do you feel the need to do that? What are you trying to prove... you don't like black metal, we get it, who fucking cares?

i'm going to generalize here and say that most metalheads listen to more then one subgenre of the music. I dont peruse through all of the threads in every forum, and i freely admit that the vast majority of the black metal bands i've heard I have inability to get into. To not make this post in any way an analysis of bullshit, i'll just surmise when i use elitism for the sake of this thread it is used exclusively for black metal which as you said no one should care if a nineteen year old metalhead hates.

The " * " s paranthesising that phrase is to indicate PERSONAL dislikes... you do it with black metal, I could do it with grind / power, others may do it with death metal or thrash.
I thought that was an obvious allusion.
If you hate a certain genre, say it once, and move on.
